I have just been to a number of Reform stores, Bio stores, Apotheke, and Drospa type places, and looked for digestive enzymes (which, aside from ones against lactose intolerance, I couldn't find). However, I couldn't help but notice for the first time package after package of various forms of Heilerde. What is it? Seems to be some sort of clay which Germans eat, mix in drinks, smear on their skin, and I'm sure they also do a few other things with it. But the package listed no "real" ingredients. What gives?

Not sure what Heilerde is, but if you're looking for the kind of bacteria that you find in live yogurts only in larger amounts, then try
Perenterol. It's marketed as an anti-diarrheal treatment (also as pre-medication before travelling), but is good for boosting bacteria after a stomach infestion or after taking antibiotics.

Heilerde: Probably works wonders if you believe in it, and does nowt if you don't.

Ah. So just clay. I thought to myself at the time, no. It can't just be clay in a box.
@ STB thanks for the link, but what I'm looking for is not the same as probiotics.

eating clay... hmmmm I wonder if they also eat paste.
Everyone has that odd story about the kid in their class who use to eat paste and pick their nose... I bet you for Germans its the story about the odd kid who didn't eat clay or paste.
Oh what have we all been missing out on. Does Clay have Calories ?

Glad to be of use.
I think the idea is that the clay goes straight through, collecting toxins as it goes.
OK, no more. Look up the rest yourselves.
