Hi!
I am going on a road trip to Utah/Arizona (Zion National Park, Bryce and Monument Valley) end of April.
Does anyone have a recommendation for lodging near/in Zion National Park, Bryce and Page, Arizona?
We are not sure whether we are camping yet. I have looked at the average weather conditions. I cannot make up my mind whether it is not too cold for camping? Anyone done it before?
Thank you in advance.

It should be warm enough to camp. I was there in January and it definitely wasn't, but come Spring Break half of America descends on this region and most of them are camping.
There are BLM campsites all over the place where you can park up and pitch your tent. You leave a few dollars in the payment box. Can't really recommend any hotels/motels in particular; they all seemed much of a muchness.

Warm enough? Are you kidding me? Of course it will be warm enough as that area is HIGH Desert and it cools off at night. Bring a sweater and long pants for after dark.
90-100F degrees in April is pretty typical. But it's a dry heat. Bring lots of sunscreen.
Hotels? They are all typical.
If you want to camp out, there's plenty of that too. Bring snake/scorpion repelent.

Camping there is gorgeous, do that! You will be very cold at night, so be sure to bundle up. There are also cheap motels everywhere. Don't worry about snakes or scorpions. Just make sure you zip your tent shut all the way at night, and shake your shoes out in the morning if you left them outside. Don't put your hands in dark crevices if climbing a stone wall. Make sure to stay hydrated, stay in the shade, and use sun cream.
You will have a blast! (That's my home turf)
moctoj2 -- are you sure the temperatures are already that high in April?

Where in Arizona though? Central Arizona is considerably hotter than southern Utah.

Southern Utah in April should be about 75 - 85 as an average high. STB is right that Central Arizona gets hotter.
I lived in Utah for 14.27632 years, or something like that.

I was there at the end of last March and it only snowed on one night. Other than yes it was cool at night but okay to camp if you're used to it. Not frostbite stuff.
The first time I went was in February and it was too cold to camp then

Based myself in Kanab for a week, loads of places to stay there. Or just over the border in Fredonia if you want a drink...

I'm getting all sentimental about home now. My first true love was from Kanab. The first time I drove down to see him, he told me to drive to Kanab and turn at the light. There is only one traffice light in the town (or there was last time I was there).
I love camping back home. You actually are in the middle of nature and can't see the next tent (unlike most "camping" I have experienced in Europe) -- I'm assuming that you know it's a bit rougher to camp there than here, Planetmoni, but definitely worth it. Depending on how long you are there, you could also stop every couple of nights in a motel to get a warm shower.

Well, considering Planetmoni is German and going there, she's not going to be used to that heat. I know from living there that 85-100 degree heat, dry heat, is hot in the sun, especially if you're moving around hiking, walking or sightseeing. It will burn you and make you squint your eyes, so wear head gear and sunglasses. April is usually the first time Phoenix see 100 degrees and it does get cold over night. It was usually my favorite month because of the low humidity and wonderful desert flowers on the cacti.
I won't 'camp' out in Arizona...not many flying bugs, but too many crawly ones for me. Scorpians, snakes, spiders...you name it. *shudders*

Luckily, southern Utah has fewer creepy crawlies than Arizona.

BLM campsites cost next to nothing...but take plenty of wet-wipes...and a shovel. I seem to remember a lot of creepy-crawlies in Utah but maybe they just felt a special bond with me.

just watch out for snakes, scorpions and serial killers then.

Make sure you have a cushion between yourself and the ground, get a good sleeping bag -- one in which you can cuddle together with your partner is always good. Don't wear the clothes you want to wear the next morning to bed (they will be moist in the morning) -- but if it is really cold you can put the clothes you want to wear the next day inside your sleeping bag at your feet, then they will be warm the next day. As long as you are prepared and bundle up, you will really enjoy.
