The following landed in the MunichNights mailbox today so I thought I'd do the decent thing and pass it on for any interested parties out there. I've left out the pictures 'cause I can't be arsed to paste them in. Let nobody say I'm not nice to Americans...well sometimes unsure.gif

Disclaimer: MunichNights.com does not condone anybody staying a whole night in a coffee-shop under ANY circumstances. You should be in a pub or club. Stopping by for a bit of an energiser is fine but don't get carried away.

That is why I am going to the Arc where they will be open until there is a decision. wink.gif
PS: I will bring my own sleeping bag! laugh.gif

There is also an all-night event at the Amerika Haus. Only catch is: you have to be a member or have a member invite you...
Jeeves
To quote Hazza @ The Arc:
We'll stay open until a winner is declared - which in the case of the last election would have been about 2 weeks!!
Hazza
Yeah, we'll be showing it.

We'll be showing a mix of CNN, CNBC, BBC News, Sky News, FOX News and open to suggestions of what other channels to see. We can show simultameous broadcasts of 2 channels supplied by SKY as well as one on German TV.

We'll start with the coverage as soon as the champions league ends, which is before 11pm...

If Kerry wins, you can bet that I'll be switching 1 over to Fox. Just wanna see how they'll try to crawl out from the Republican's arses...
Mbangura
I have abandoned my trip to Italy, where I would have been w/o television for this night alone. I will be there, with my pillow sleeping bag and a couple days worth of clothes I'm not leaving the Arc till a winner has been declared mad.gif , I'm not leaving Munich till the winner isn't Bush dry.gif

I said that four years ago and I am still here.

Not that I will make the whole night. Are any of TT's resident Americans planning a 'Celebration' or 'Commiseration' party? I for one am hoping there will be a new president come next week.
Jeeves
Since TT Tuesday is planned for the Arc next week I guess I'll be there anyway. However due to having posted a couple of days back that I don't like to mix pubs and politics, I shall probably not say a word all night.
Mbangura
a victory party would be nice...
bee_sting
i will be there. I've watched the results of every election since I was little. come to think of it, it's the only sporting event i have ever been dedicated to.
Elfenstar
i usually stay up til 1 or 2 a.m., go to sleep, set my alarm for 4:30, then go back to sleep and wake up at a normal time. it's sort of like christmas. you hope catch santa in the act, then you wake up to a bunch of goodies!
interplanetjanet
Let's just hope Santa doesn't leave us coal this year. blink.gif

I'm in the US right now. You can't turn on the TV without hearing what Kerry or Bush ate for lunch. It's been that way for the past month. I'll be glad when it's over (as long as it goes well) so the news will start coverring issues again. I'm having a small party at my place (all welcome to come but the commute is a b**ch). I told my friends to bring wine to celebrate with or drwnd sorrows in. It could go either way.

Anyone who is interested should look for the clips of Jon Stewart (Host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central) on Crossfire (really bad political debate show where everyone just yells at each other). It's really great.

@winegirl

just got back & boy, do i hear that. what a relief to have escaped it! i did see the crossfire bit. good stuff.

jon stewart sidenote: i haven't gotten through all of it yet, but so far i highly recommend "America (The Book)- A Citizen's Guide To Democracy Inaction.)

Sorry to reawaken a painful topic. Just wanted to post this (not very interesting) pic taken from SFCC on election night. Look closely you can make out DW in the foreground and Izabella at the bar. Cunning Dave Dowdy appears twice in the same photo! ph34r.gif

Keydeck
Bloke who owns the "Used Bookshop" is in there too.
Chalmondley Warner
That's Dave Dowdy. Or are you refering to his twin brother?
