Where to buy a nice toybox

Shopping for a chest to put toys in

Hello guys,

I was wondering if any of you know a shop, or online site where I could purchase a nice toybox / chest. The grandparents asked what to get our youngest for his first birthday, and since I'm sick of falling over the 100's of toys he already has I decided it'd be nice to get a nice toy chest.. the type with the special hinges so it doesn't close on little fingers.

I've just no idea where to get one, though one of you might know!
Thanks
Bren

Worth looking through the IKEA catalogue? Depending upon which end of Schleswig-Holstein you are there is an IKEA on the A7 near Hamburg airport exit.

Hi Bren, a few years ago IKEA had a super special offer on pinewood chests, there was a total run for them, I managed to get two of them, wanted them for the kitchen, but never got around putting them together, they don't fit in our new kitchen and we also don't have any other place to put them, so there catching dust in the cellar. If you like you can have one of them (for free of course), I want to give the other one to a friend.
Not sure about the special hinges though, it wasn't a very pricey thing, so probably nothing special.

You can also try Baby-Walz - they have a shop near Gänsemarkt in Hamburg (Caffamacherreihe).
Or check out websites of chains like Ikea or Dänisches Bettenlager and search for Spielzeugtruhe or Spielzeug-Truhe.
We bought a nice chest from Dänisches Bettenlager and I think they have a shop near you.

Another option:
Baby-Dorf Halstenbek GmbH
Gärtnerstraße 150
Telefon: (041 01) 47 99-0
Telefax: (041 01) 40 22 85
eMail: info@baby-dorf.de

It's easy to get to from Wedel, it's right next to the A23 junktion Halstenbek at the Wohnmeile Halstenbek, or you can drive via Schenefeld center (which might also be an option to have a look for a nice chest).
The Wohnmeile is generally a good idea, there's loads of furniture shops there (Schulenburg, Möbelkiste, Dänisches Bettenlager, Richter, SB-Philip...)

Just let me know if you want to have a look at the chest we have in the cellar.

Thanks Hammonia smile.gif

That is really very kind of you. I actually have one of those Ikea chests... I think. It's with a soft top so it's a seat and a box? The hinges are really the thing I most want on them, as Noah is only 1 and I know he'll trap his fingers in anything that doesn't have child safe hinges.

Your other info is really useful, we're away this weekend, but plan on making next weekend the toychest hunting one smile.gif
Thanks

I've seen some gorgeous toy chests in baby markt which is just off wandsbeker chaussee in wandsbek (not sure on my spelling there). I was thinking of getting one for my 2 year old son (also called Noah), The last time I went in there they had a pirate style one, football design or another design (which I cant remember). All of them were really suitable for boys and totally child friendly hinges.

Hi everyone, just for your information all the Baby-markts and Baby-dorfs in Hamburg are owned by one person so there is no need to look for something in another baby-markt if you didn't find it in the first one(or they can have it delivered).

greets everyone smile.gif
