Hello all,

This is James. I was on this board for a while about 18 months ago. Lived in Berlin from Nov 06 to Nov 07. I am now in South America.

I have decided to move back to Berlin for 2 more years, but this time I am bringing people with me. I plan to return with my fiance and her two kids. We are looking to arrive in July. I know this may seem tricky, but we are committed to making it happen. I have a whole host of questions for some people who may know more about legal residency. Last time I was in Berlin, I was borderline, but with kids, can't do that anymore. I have a ton of other questions...I will just list them here and if anyone can help with any of them, great! thanks in advance!

-Visas. I have my own web development business and work from home. I may not need a real job. How does this work? Freelance visa? What about my fiance and her kids? Do we have to get married for them to come too?

-HealthCare - Anyway to get the 4 of us on the german system? Can we pay in?

-Job for my fiance - She is in accounting but only want to work part time? What are her prospects?

-School: The ideal plan is to home school the kids so we can travel around all the time. I know Germany frowns on this, but since we are expats how would they know? What's the next best option. Probably can't afford an international school.

-Adult School: My fiance wants to finish her degree. Are there any places she can take classes over here for that???

Those are pretty big topics and I don't expect anybody to know it all, but anything would help a ton!!!

We were homeschooling but have stopped to move to Germany ourselves in August. I have read about people that do home school in Germany and it isn't pretty. One German family I know spend about 6 months ayear travelling or living aboard. Austria is very open to Home schooling so that is an option.
You would need to keep your head down if you wanted to do it, Good luck
