Greeting from the US. I am have in my collection a 4x5 compact view camera with a small brass plate with the following engraved on it. “Dr Georg Hauberrisser; Photo-Artikle; Munchen, Dienerstr 19. The only other identifying mark is “Special Wiphot on the bed of the lens rail.
I know that a Goerg Hauberrisser designed the Munich city Hall in about 1908. I also found through Google that a Dr. Georg Hauberrisser was involved in either proving or disproving truths about some spiritual mediums with his photography in Jan 1914. From notes from The British Journal of Photography Almanac show that a Dr G Hauberrisser of Germany died in 1927. I am wondering is this is all the same person?
I can’t remember where a bought the camera when I was doing a little camera collecting in 1980-92. I am sure that is was “liberated and brought to the US after World War II. Can any of the club members give me any more information about Dr Georg Hauberrisser? Evidentially he lived at No 19 Dienerstrasse in Munich. Would there be any organization or group or person interested in the camera?
Danken, Art
