I received a call from lets call her Frau X from Deutsche Telekom last Friday 01-02-08 wanting to know if I would be interested in their Call and surf flat
rate package for Euro 39,95 per month including DSL 6000.
Now seeing as my bill is often between 55 and 80 euros in the month as I call Ireland and Scotland quite at bit she also offered me for a extra 3,95 in the month a flat rate to call land lines in 25 European countries. I told her that I would like to think about the offer and she should call me back the next day.
Having read over the offer on the Telekom website I wrote down a few questions i wished to ask and waited. Frau X called me on Saturday and in the course of our conversation
1.I told her I did not need the hardware from them for the internet – She said this was no problem I must not take it if i did not want to.
2. I asked about the 50 Euro Voucher being offered online by Telekom – said said it was now out of date and she could only give me a Gift voucher of 25 Euro from Dougles.
3. I told her i did not want to have the bill booked from my bank account (automatic debit transfer)- she told me for the first time it must be that way and afterwards i could write to the telekom and it would revert back to the old system of once a month comes the bill with the post.
Before I said yes I ask her one more time are there any other hidden charges ie set up costs etc ?
No was her answer.
So I gave her my details and she said it would first come into effect on 01. March and hung up.
Yesterday evening ca. 6.30 pm I recieve a call from lets say Herr Y also from Deutsche Telekom.
He was enquiring as to what deal I had closed with them as he could not find any voice recording of the discussion which according to Herr Y must be carried out during such sales. Luckily I still had the name and Telephone number of Frau X from Saturday and gave this him.
Now the fun begins :
1. According to Herr Y this lady works for a callcenter NOT Deutsche Telekom. And is only cold calling on behalf of Deutsche Telekom.
2. As part of the Package I MUST buy the Hardware from Telekom for the Internet costing 59 Euros
3. The more the call centers sell the more money they earn and this is why she bullshitted me on the 50 Euro voucher that i am very much entitled to receive.
4. If i want to continue to receive a bill with this package through the post I must pay 1,20 per month
Then he starts telling me „yes its really bad these unqualified people selling our packages for us bla bla bla“
So i stopped him and told him they can shove their package where the sun don´t shine. I am cancelling it as i feel they are taking the absoulte piss.
Seeing as My Number is Ex-directory I did not have cause to believe that the lady was not from the Telekom as only 5 people plus D-Telekom have my number.
That these retards used such crap call centers selling packages with misinformation and pass my number to them has also pissed me off big time.
Can anyone tell me who does offer a good telephone and internet flat incl a landline flat rate for EU countries cos it sure as hell is not Deutsche Telekom.
Sorry for such a long post but I needed to get this off my chest and warn those of you who may not be aware of this half truth sales technique from Deutsche Telekom.

Same story, different person/day... Talked about many times before..
Its the same if your handy contract is with DTAG. Some of these people will call 6-10 times a day
until they get a hold of you, then try to sell you xtra stuff you don't need. You will always get better
deals (and less hidden problems) by only dealing with DTAG directly via their website or a T-Punkt store.
The guys in Media markt/saturn are also resellers and are not Telekom employees.
In the end I just stopped answering "Unknown" caller calls on my mobile. If your phone runs Windows Mobile
you can download software called phone firewall, which will block all unknown callers from your phone. It won't
even ring.
A lot of that going on, unfortunately. I've just taken out a Call & Surf package, though, and didn't have to buy any hardware from Telekom. Did have to pay €60 connection charge, though.
Edit: Taken out over the web and moving house at the same time.
I got the new Call and Surf thing, and had no extra start up costs at all. But I have had it since last year, and they didn't do a call to me, they actually canvased my building. My bills are less a month now than before, except for the months I call home to Canada.
I am very happy with mine.

I've had no problems with the call and surf deal. We were not obliged to buy the hardware. And a phone call has gotten us free upgrades from 4000 to 16000. I'm no fan of Telekom but I'm fine with them now. I don't use their overseas deal as I find it's better to use the prefixes at this site.
http://www.tariftip.de/ Just make sure you click the "Nur mit tarif ansage" box, that way they tell you how much your paying.
We've saved a bundle with the call and surf deal. Go see them at the Telekom shop

Same happened to me. I told the guy that I would go to one of their Telekom offices and he sounded pissed off and tried to sell the package anyway.
I replied that I wanted to think about the offer and that "you are both from telekom after all".
The guy said "'wiederhoeren" in a sad way and hung up.

We have the T-Com internet flatrate and for unlimited calls to Europe (incl Ireland) its the 3.95 a month on top of the 39.95 for unlimited internet and unlimited german landline calls.
They even allowed us to upgrade from the old 2kbps package at 50 Euro/month to the 6kpbs package for a tenner less!!
And all organised face to face at one of their shops downtown. Couldn't be easier.
p.s.
The europe flatrate is combinable with the following rates/ packages so if you already have one of these T Com rates then all you need to do is add the Europe flat package to your existing deal.

ANY time a T-Com (Telekom, T-Mobile, T-Online) person calls, I always tell them the same thing.
"If I wanted to change anything on any of my services, I would go to a T-Punkt or T-Com store and do it in person. Never over the phone. I've told you this before so please put it in the computer and leave me the hell alone".
It ends the calls pretty quick, but they always call back a month or so later. I REALLY enjoy it when they come to my door. It makes my week to torment those little fuckers.

It doesn't matter whether the caller works directly for Deutsche Telekom or whether they work for a third party; if they're on commission, then there's a good chance they'll be doing some bullshitting.
The best method is to order whatever you want online. There you can see all the options available to you and consider them in your own time.

To the OP: I did find this info helpful - I periodically get calls from DT (I use their service) - I always tell them to send me the offer in writing, because I do not trust them, and nothing has ever come in the mail. Your story underscores my suspicion.
Also, we use
Billiger Telefonieren to call to the states and elsewhere.
I'm on
M-Net Maxi 6000 for 34,90/month
- Flat Telephone
- Flat DSL 6000
- Flat International for 6,90/Month
- Other DSL options on 50% discount.
- No setup cost; 1st Month free; €20 credit if you sign up online.
Its a 24 Month minimum period, but you can hop from special offer to special offer as they come out.
No problems over the last 2 years and a nice man on the hotline helped me upgrade to the next offer.
Got cold-called by Telekom this evening. The latest wheeze seems to be sending you a mobile phone to test for 3 months. 'You know, the one Michael Ballack is advertising', they attempted to reassure me. Well, I think we can guess what will happen at the end of those three months, so I declined on the grounds that I already have a mobile contract, none of their business which.
However, they have my details from my Call & Surf package, so I expect they'll call again some time.

Another thing to be aware of with DT is what happens if you change your package, eg:
T-Mobile, change your rate to a 'lower/better' one and your 2-year cheapo deal is begun again with a new contract, i.e. you're locked in for another 2 years. It is not a change to your existing contract.
T-Com, change your rate to a 'lower/better' one and they treat it as a new contract, not a change to your existing one. If you are ex-directory, your name appears online and in the printed directories, gets sold-on again, etc.
Of course, you have 2 weeks to change if you detect this in time if you missed it but better ask the right questions doing it by phone or do it all online and read everything.

I don't
believe they do that either. That's what the phone book is for. If anyone calls you claiming to be from Telekom ask them for information only Telekom would know, like how much your last bill was, what service you currently have or your Telekom customer number.
I haven't been in the phone book for years, and they quoted the contract I was on straight off, without being asked, correctly naming the month in which the latest renewal was made.

If you spend any time listening to cold callers from any company, then you get what you deserve. Best to tell them to go away as soon as they call or hang up. You ain't got any obligation to listen to their rubbish.
No point in being paranoid about them having your details - all big companies, whether utilities, banks etc. who your details will probably sell them on to various other companies, no matter what they say officially. In most cases they are probably doing this illegally, but hey, what can you do about it ? If everybody ignores the cold callers and either hang up immediately or tell them to piss off, then the practice will stop - the reason they continue s people listen to them and then proceed to purchase the "products" they push.
That might apply to companies you've never heard of, but there's little point in telling your phone company to piss off before you've heard what they've got to say. No paranoia, I know that Telekom has my details, however I didn't empower them to use them for advertising.
But that wasn't really the point of my first post - just to let people know the latest wheeze.

My phone # is not listed either, yet the callers know my contact details, My telephone #, and my T-Mobile contract details.
T-Mobile/T-Com/T-*** Are passing customer data to 3rd party cold callers, who constantly call (Even when told not to)
trying to get you to change your contract options. It started happening about 1 month after I started my T-Mobile contract.
Sometimes the bastards call, 3-4 even 6 times a day. I just don't answer "Unknown" calls anymore, and let the call firewall
software on my phone block the call.

Why not ? If it is an unsolicited call, what are they likely to have to say apart form trying to sell you something, which in most cases you are not likely to want.
It's your choice to take the unsolicited call, but if you do, then there's no point in complaining about the practice, as you're only encouraging the people who do it.

Likely, maybe, but not for certain. 'Hello Mr. Guy, we've found a fault on your line, we've cocked up your bill, we've put a new exchange in your town and you can now get higher speed'.

Don't agree. Taking them up on the offer is the encouragement, and I told them to sling their hook once it was apparent what the call was about. It's a different story if an unknown company calls, the call ends much quicker.

They almost got me once I remember same sort of thing reduced price, better quality, up till the point the caller asked me for my Telkom customer number??? (at which point my brain started working)To which I replied “you’re Telkom you should know this and my address so please send everything per letter that I can read it through before agreeing to any contract ",you have to be careful here with this verbal contract law”

They got me once at the entrance of Kaisers, they offered to reduce my monthly payments and to give me a 50 Euro voucher for Kaisers. Actually the monthly payments were reduced and I got the voucher. Only shitty thing is that I got stuck for 2 more years. I am sooo clever and I allowed them to fuck me in the ass. March 2009 ... I am waiting for it.
