I have a load of girly chick lit books and magazines that are taking up too much space.
If anyone is interested in meeting up to swap for something similar let me know! Perhaps even on a regular basis? Over coffee or Gin, I dont mind!

God, yeah. Preferably within the next five minutes.

I don't have much chick lit though.
I like gin, I like books, so I'd be interested. You might be better advised to make a meetup post out of this similar to the bookswap I used to run:
Bookswap. That died when the TB went under because I insisted on a nonsmoking venue, but now that everything's nonsmoking, it'd be lots easier to organize. I'd suggest going to Baal because as a registered Bookcrossing venue, you can leave any books there that you don't want to cart home again.
(5 hours isn't much time to give people to respond anyhow. Esp as many people (me included) have the classified ads filtered out of the view new posts bit. I looked at this only because the shortened title said "exchange girlie boo..." and I thought it might've been about boobies...)

I see that 'Girlie Books' is classified something like "Girlie Movies", for which a new word has entered into the dictionary (Chick-Flicks). So, a girlie book is nothing but a 'Chick-Book'.
I am up for it, have some girl books, but have alot of crimistyle books too! Are they allowed?

I'd definitely be up for a bookswap, but I don't have chick-lit. Like Carm, I have mostly crimis. But I have about 50 of them to exchange, so I'd definitely be up for it. Name your place and time, g24.

Oooh...and I think we could in principle meet at 'The Bookshelf' on Monday the 18th - volunteering there that evening. Also a relatively good chance for people to see the library if they haven't already been there before. What say you all?
edit: Ah I just saw the bit about alcohol...well not such a good idea to meet at a library then.

Hi there ... I will try to be there! but prob around 20:00 better for me too ...
I need help with the venue. I'm not so hot on practical book-swapping friendly places more the dark drinking dens!!

and cheesy discos! lol
Anywhere central with plenty of space for us to move around and browse? and drink? It's no problem to make it 8pm if that suits more people.

Mon. 18th sounds good..18.00 is fine for me but can come later if necessary. As for the location, what about Gast at
Gasteig?...was there for the first time recently and at the back is a lounge area with comfy sofas - might be an option?
Sounds nice to me. My thought with the bookswapping place was so that people wouldn't have to lug anything home if they didn't want to, but maybe not everyone's as lazy as me.

Can also do 18th, and later also better. Now just need to find some suitable literature so it doesn't look like I'm only in for the gin...

Isn't the idea to "swap" the books though i.e. bring some and take some away? Or are you just looking to offload? Hopefully we'll all get to go home with different books than the ones we came with at least!
If you just want to offload that's cool, but yes, swapping is the idea. I need to get a fresh supply before I am stuck in the hospital for 2 weeks!

I vote for
Monday, Feb. 18, 20:00 at Gast at Gasteig. I think that's the best consensus that's been reached...

I agree with Gen - let's stick with that. I heard from g24 last night that she can no longer make it on Monday but we can always hold another one at a later date.

I am still planning to go ahead with this event. I have PMed those who orginally showed interest. Based on the replies I will reserve places in the lounge area at the back of the restaurant. I will reserve under "Toytown" for those who are new and won't recognise anyone.
So, to summarize:-

Thanks everyone for coming along last night - was a great turnout. Not so conducive for talking across the wide expanse of the table but it was practical to lay the books out. Some other ideas for future locations were Baal and
Café Mozart...they already have a bit of a library so we could leave excess books there!

Give me a couple of weeks and I'll be there!
It was so good to meet everyone and re-stock my supply of books! I'm starting one today!
Oh, and someone asked me about the ski club...here is the link:

This is a brilliant idea. I'd definitely like to come along next time. Up until now I have always left my "to give away" books downstairs for the neighbours to go through, but I'll keep them now.

I'd love to get in on this for the next go-around, but I usually work weekday evenings because I'm an au pair and have to get kids to bed, etc. Perhaps a Sunday evening meet-up would fit into more schedules? Just an idea! I'll be sure to check back and see what develops.
