Düsseldorf China Center restaurant

Is it any good?

In our search for other good Asian food options (many favorite Japanese places have disappeared...) we are looking at the restaurant in the Duesseldorf China Center. Is it any good? How are the prices? I found a couple of German reviews that complained it was too spicy--which sounds good to us!

Thanks!

Not been to this one I'm afraid but last night I was at another place called Dim Sum Gourmet in D-Bilk. They were the previous owners of the Shanghai restaurant in Klosterstr. Their food is pretty good and they don't only serve dim sum - they also got main dishes, which are around 9-14€. Dim sum range from 3.50-7€. Not spicy though I'm afraid - the food is Cantonese rather than Szechuan. I am Chinese and give this place the thumbs up! Not the best dim sum I've had but still good laugh.gif

Let us know how the other place is!

Hello,

we have been in the DCC last year, but not direct in the restaurant. Taking part a great reception in one of there ballrooms.
BUT the food (many courses incl. Cantonese and some Szechuan) are prepared by the restaurant. We enjoyed the stay very much.

Hope this information help you all

I will have to try the place in D-Bilk, DCC is nice to look at, and the food is alright, but for that price you would expect much better.
there are two places which I find acceptable in D-dorf, from a newyorker's distorted point of view
but I do not remember the names

one is a hole-in-the-wall on Bahn-str (go to corner of Graf Adolf and Berliner Alle, then ask),
and the other is near the Hbf, on Karlstr. (which is the continuation of Graf Adolf as you walk towards Kölner str.), and this is easy to find because the decoration is over-the-top, they are usually near empty in the late evenings, but the staff is friendly and the food is reasonable, I do not know how they get money to pay the rent, but that is probably a different story.

In any case, dim sum is horrendously expensive in Europe, there is not enough demand to keep a big specialized restaurant in operation (like the ones on Mott street back in NYC), you are better off just preparing the stuff yourself. Problem: where do I buy chicken feet?

Böser chinese is a noodle place in Flingern, good for a laugh and a soup, but the menu options are too limited
but it is nice to see somebody making fresh noodles
