There are various trails on that mountain, and you can take your bike up on the cable car. See the
Pfänder website for more info.
The
Pfänderbahn website has a webcam where you can check to see how much snow there is. It will probably all be gone by March at this rate anyway.

I'll revive this thread... I'm planning a bike trip around the bodensee at the end of July. Does anyone know where I can buy bike maps in Munich for this trip?
If anyone has already done it I'd sure appreciate any tips and advice. For example, is it worth bringing a tent or are there plenty of B&B's along the way? Can I get away with not booking accomodations ahead of time? What's the best town to start from? That sort of thing.
Thanks

You can get cycle maps in Hugendubel or that map shop around the corner from Sport Schuster (I forget the name). July is obviously a busy time of the year; it's unlikely that everything will be fully booked, but you may find all the cheap rooms gone, so it depends on your budget. I'd be minded to take a chance, for the flexibility it provides. There is certainly no shortage of hotels/Pensions along the way. In terms of where to start, I don't really think this makes too much of a difference in terms of terrain, but Lindau is probably the most accessible point from Munich (by train at least). Viel Spaß!

Great! Thanks for the tips. I would prefer the flexibility of not booking in advance too. Ok, super-dumb question: Where is Sport Schuster? I know I've heard of it, I know I've walked by it, but I don't know which place it is. Is it the big sports store at Marienplatz, opposite Kaufhauf?
Thanks

Yes, that's the one, but I've gone one better and found the details of the map shop: it's called
Geobuch and the address is Rosental 6.
Also check out the following website for some general info:
Bodensee-radweg.com.

hello fella....
there are sings the whole way around the lake showing you the way. hardly having to ride on the main roads. i would very much doubt you need a map. just keep the lake to your right or left, it's pretty hard not to miss it. there are plenty of campsites around but look to be paying €10-15/night for one person, €20-25 for two.
if you are doing it by tent and have a bit of luggage to carry then i have a trailer you could borrow (BOB YAK...look it up. it is sweet and served me well from london to munich) an it'd fit most bikes. if staying in hotels/pension the trip could be done in three days with relatively easy riding.
lindau is probably the easiest start point from munich if coming by train and there are plenty of maps you can buy here if needed. i'm in lindau if you would like to borrow the trailer. PM me if need be.
oh, and i can say the riding on the pfänder is awesome if going off road is your thing.
macht gut.

Hi Jay-Me, thank you very much for the info and the offer! That is very kind of you. We're going to stay in hotels/pensions for the trip, and I'm sure looking forward to it!
