Hi, What newspapers post obituaries? My uncle, Alexander Bohner, passed February 3rd 2008. He lived in Munich. I cannot find it anywhere.

Sorry for your loss. Obits in Germany are not the same as in the US, it's generally a black-bordered, conservative notice in the regional newspapers. Get in touch with the newspapers' classified department - Familienanzeigen.

Merkur lists them on the web but he's not in there. If anything I would have thought it'd appear a few days after, not straight away.

Is that Bohner or Böhner? Spelling will make a difference.

I don't think obituaries are automatic here, I believe they are akin to a "paid advert"...

"Traueranzeige" is the German word the SZ uses.
