Getting satellite television in Niedersachsen - Germany

Tips for setting up Sky TV etc.
Hansano
Hi, new member and my first post so please forgive any lack of forum etiquette on my part. I'll get the hang of it sooner or later. Wish I could say the same for my spoken German! If this subject has already been covered I apologise. I would like to get hooked up to SKY satellite TV to catch some of the UK programmes. Does anyone have some tips or advice on who to contact and how to go about plugging in to planet Sky? Many thanks.

Yes, start by using the search function (upper right corner). wink.gif

failing that - if you've got a UK address you can use get a sky account, telling them that you already have the equipment and are happy to put it up yourself. Get a digibox off ebay, buy the satellite in saturn or Media Markt and call this old boy to install it all.

He only speaks German I'm afraid but is cheap. - Bernard Fernsch tel. 040 44 75 32

you also need a UK bank accound for the direct debit

There's more than one way to skin a cat. You can apply through an online agent who will set you up with a fake UK address and handle the Sky end for you. It does cost more, naturally.

I'm an American who's leaving Germany soon, and I have a Sky Digibox and satellite dish for sale right now. You need these two items and a SkyCard subscription to view Sky programming from the UK. There are several companies on the internet that you can get the card/subscription from - here's one of them: storesatellite.com

The card inserts into a slot in the Sky Digibox, and the company from which you get the card/subscription from will then 'marry' it to the Digibox. Then you'll be all set. As far as I know, if you're living in Germany, you have to own the Digibox outright. I can sell you mine (used, but not very) for about half of what you'll have to pay for a new one. I have a sat. dish for sale, too, which you'll also need. I see you're in Niedersachsen - so am I, in Osnabrück. Let me know if you're interested.

Hello squanjaili

I am from India and recently moved to Hannover. I would be interested into the Digibox if it is still on sale. Is the smart card still valid. I would also like to have a few hints on the installation of the dish etc. Please call 0511 64205358 if you can else provide me with the number to contact. I am a new user and hence not aware of the regulations for this forum hence forgive in case of any mistakes.

regards

Hi rituraj,

you might want to send him a private message - this thread's a few days old, so squanjaili might not be back to check this thread...
