How to say "I'm on a diet" in German

Declining offers of dessert or sweets

I've been trying to research the best way to tell my German (non English speaking) friends that I'm on a diet - whenever they offer me dessert or sweets I find it easier to accept and give in...lol! I've found the phrase "Ich bin fur die schlank Linie" on the internet - is this the commonly used expression or can anyone advise me of a better one?

Many thanks from a sweet toothed, over weight, Essex girl !
