Hello TT'ers.

I am a Canadian that has been in the Berlin area (Kleinmachnow) since last October. We've got a sat dish and receiver with lots of channels but we're starting to miss the North American network channels. Does anyone have any recommendations for a Sat or Cable service that provides these type of channels? We were in Italy for a couple of years and we were able to get several channels there, but my neighbours don't seem to know about where/how I can get similar channels here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the closest thing you'll get on satellite is Sky from Britain. Or you could try using a slingbox set up with a relative in the US.

Al Jazeera (English) is also available ...

Thanks to all for feedback. I guess Sky's the way to go.

Or you can get a AFN decoder and get the military broadcasts. You can buy a used one from a PCS/ETSing soldier via Stars & Stripes website.

IF they are an authorized user. AFN will cut off any decoder that expires. Proof of authorization is required to re-register a decoder and selling a decoder to an unauthorized user is generally frowned upon.

Kabel Deutschland has a great English language package for 12€ per month.

Check out the information for Kabel Deutschland International here.

Has anyone had the experience of getting Kabeldeutschland on (or one of their language packages), and then getting a "anything changed in your life recently?" letter from the GEZ?

I second that! KD is crappy for English speakers

Kabel Deutschland maybe is the best choice you can do looking for english spoken channels. NASN is as recievebale as other (FSN, etc.) channels. I´m used to watching NASN to push all my thumbs in favour of our Anaheim Ducks. Sorry, Canadian guy. The Sens did well. But it was a deserved and amazing victory. Nevertheless, take Kabel Deutschland do it up and enjoy the wide range of channels. I warmly welcome you right here in Germany. regards.
