Tips sought on making friends

Hello everybody

I'm portuguese and i just moved to Munich.

I left Portugal 8 year ago. Spent some years in Brussels, some years in France and now I'm starting my German Era!

Besides the problems with the language, i really find difficult to meet people and start a social life, with friends...

So if there's someone in the same situation looking for some friends to discover this Bavarian land...
feel free to say something...

looking forward to hearing from you

Hi jotinha, and welcome. Check out the Calendar. The Tuesday drinks are a good place to meet people. I'll be out for a beer tomorrow afternoon-early evening. I just don't know where yet, but we could not organise an impromptu, unofficial TT Tuesday on a Sunday and see who doesn't turn up.

Well, first off welcome to Munich Jotinha
Hope that you enjoy your time here, I know I have smile.gif
Take a look around, there are always lots of people getting together to do lots of different stuff.
And as the weather gets nicer it will only get better!

Nice to hear that there's someone there...

since when are you guys in munich?

do you like being here?

Jotinha, I strongly recommend you have a read through some of the threads on the forum before posting anymore. You will quickly gain some insight into life here and not have to come across as someone who, despite what you've said, has never travelled anywhere ever.

Have a read, look at the regularly organised events, and simply show up for something which takes your fancy.

Welcome to Munich.

Been here for about 9 months, love it here and just got things organized to stay long term. Thankfully smile.gif

I've been here 8 years. The first night I hated it. The first month wasn't easy. Then I got to know it and it's home now. I struggle to think where else I would live.

I travelled a lot to munich during the last year and then jus decided to move in.

I've always felt great here...

I also had this feeling of getting home...although it's really different from Lisbon :-(

Ok, One of these days I'll show up in one of the meetings.

See you soon

There are tons of Portugese people in Munich... at least, I know a lot through my company. Though it's hard for me to go out with them, because guess what language they usually speak together, that I don't know ;-)

If you hang out at Lisboa Bar you can certainly meet a few, if you long for the homeland...

Boy, I am jealous. I spent half-a-year in Munich as an intern 5 years ago. Now I am living in the middle of nowhere farmland in north germany. I would kill to be back in Munich. I miss that place.

Be sure to get a bike and trek along the Isar. There is a great beer garden south of the city, situated on a hill above the river. A jazz band plays on the weekends as i recall. a good place to tip back a Mass. enjoy.
