Size limits for carry-on luggage

E.g. how strict are Ryanair at Frankfurt-Hahn?

Hi,

I have booked a Rynair ticket and will go hand luggage only. My bag will be under 10 kg. (I really don't need more for a weekend!) Basically what I would like to know is how specific they are at Hahn about the dimensions. My rolly case that I take everwhere has never been hand luggage with Ryanair. It is a "normal" small case, but probably a little bigger than 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm in a couple of dimensions.

I know this kind of question gets asked alot, but I really want to know about the dimension limit, not the weight. Is it just a guideline?

Cheers,

Ferkel

No, it's not a guideline, it's their rule and it's in their financial interest to enforce it. You could try and take it with you, but be prepared to be told you have to check it in. Also expect withering looks from other passengers when there's no room left in the lockers.

As with all airlines' policy the enforcement is a totally random event, depending on the checkin Dolly's menstrual cycle amongst other things beyond your control. As long as your bag can be forced to fit in the standard size tester then it should be OK.

More Ryanair news.

Actually Ryan air have a reputation of strictly enforcing the rules in order to get extra money off you at the check-in. Their hold baggage limit is just 15kg (not 20kg), unlike every other airline I've come across. This fact they don't exactly make clear when you are booking. I suffered from this last time I flew with them and they wanted to charge me more money thant I'd paid for the flight. To spite them I just took out 5 kgs of clothes and wore them although- I did get some strange looks as it was Spain in the miodlle of the summer and I had about 4 layers of clothes on!

Anyway- do not count on Ryan air letting you get away with anything...

Edit: Pun not intended, honest!

Thanks for the insights.. I think i can wedge my back in those size-check cages and its only a couple of cm . I think it will be alright. I have flown several times (say 20 rtns ) with ryanair and never been charged for anything extra. These borderline things often come down to the airport of departure it seems and I have not use Hahn before. Having got the tape measure out i am much less concerned!

you're lucky you didn't get kicked off the flight and/or shot for being unseasonably warmly dressed!
