Table reservations for Oktoberfest 2008

Make your bookings today via Whitney-Events

Whitney-Events
[floatright]Attached image[/floatright]Whitney-Events has been cooperating with various tents at the Oktoberfest since 2006 and is dedicated to taking the hassle out of your visit to this world-famous beer festival.

Thanks to the owner’s good connections to the tent managers, Whitney-Events is generally able to reserve tables for groups of anywhere from six, eight or ten to up to fifty people, purchase the beer and food vouchers and provide you and your guests with seating in most of the major tents. As soon as the tents begin processing reservations early in the year, your request including date, time and number of guests is forwarded to the tent of your choice and two back-up choices.

Due to the huge amount of requests received every year by the various tents, it is advisable to plan early. In 2007, Whitney-Events was able to place a total of 400 satisfied customers in such large tents as the boisterous Hofbräu, the traditional Schottenhamel and the trendy Hippodrom, just to name a few, as well as the three smaller, more intimate Ammer, Hochreiter and Wildmoser tents.

The fees are modest; payment can be made via bank transfer or PayPal.

Please note: The re-sale of any table reservations and vouchers purchased through Whitney-Events on such auction platforms as eBay and others is not permitted. The reservation will become invalid; the customer does not have the right to claim damages or compensation and may be liable to criminal charges!

Modest fees. Pray tell how much? What about the capacity per tent?
Whitney-Events
The fees depend on the number of reservations.
gideon
Modest fees. Pray tell how much?

Hopefully enough to keep the riff raff, non-smokers and tourists out eh?
Whitney-Events
Modest, suitable, appropriate, call it what you want. After handing over the vouchers I wash my hands of any responsibility for my clients' origin, behavior, religious, sexual or political orientation and smoker or non-smokerness.
Scogs
What about the capacity per tent?

are you kidding? tents range from a few hundred to several thousands, and a lot of tents will only sell tables to regulars that have been booking the same table for years
Whitney-Events
I have been receiving first responses from various tents and will be posting times and availability this weekend. It seems that the City's 850th birthday is drawing larger crowds this year, reservations on Friday and Saturday evenings are harder to find than a hippie in the White House.

Thank you for your creative input, oh bearded one!

Don't mention it.

It's an odd approach to business, I find, where a service is offered but questions about the pricing are met with evasive non-answers and insults. Even German supermarkets, not usually the idols of customer service, tell us their prices openly.

Please note: The re-sale of any table reservations and vouchers purchased through Whitney-Events on such auction platforms as eBay and others is not permitted.

For information, who forbids the reselling?

Finding tables for the afternoons is often not that difficult as most people want to be in the Wiesn for the evening, not get turfed off their table just as things start to get lively.

Good luck.
gideon
To be fair WE hasn't insulted anybody (more me though I meant it with tounge firmly implanted in my cheek, or foot in mouth depending on your perspective) and I presume, note the word presume because until I know for sure I can not do but otherwise, that the surcharge pricing is elastic according to demand and outlay. A demanding customer who must have a table on Friday come what may, may find his premium is slightly larger than someone who would like to have a table on wednesday at 11 o'clock if you please. That would be my business model anyway and seems logical.

As to the forbiding that is a direct order from the breweries. Only authorised events people may do so. Any open auctioning on the internet is verbotten. Which is fair enough, their tents their rules.
Whitney-Events
The prices vary with the number of tables reserved, as stated above ("The fees depend on the number of reservations."). Anyone who sends me a PM with the number of spaces required receives a customized estimate.
The tents forbid the re-sale of reservations. The reservation itself is free, it's only the vouchers that you pay for. Reservations have been offered for up to €400 on Ebay plus the price for the vouchers, the sellers are ripping people off for something they received for free. I have been cooperating with various tents for two years now, they know that I am a serious business and refuse to join any gray or black market.
Non-locals, especially the non-German speakers, do not know how the Fest functions in detail and are glad to avoid the hassle of traipsing around several tents in a group of ten or more looking for free tables. It's like booking a package holiday where flight, transport and hotel are arranged for you. You get to your destination, plunk down and have a good time. That is the service that I provide, and I thank you for your input and good wishes.
And try as I may, I cannot find any response from my side containing an insult.
Whitney-Events
Haxnbraterei Hochreiter, bless them, have opened my eyes to another reason why getting evening reservations is so difficult this year: The Zentrales Landwirtschaftsfest that takes place every four years is due again this year and all the [s]yokels[/s] farmers from near and far are congregating and taking up the best seats in the house.

I am doing my best to fulfill the orders I have already received but cannot guarantee success. As a professional, I am gutted.
Whitney-Events
Things are looking up, I have received various confirmations. Gratuitous public information: The last weekend is going to be bedlam from Thursday afternoon on.
Whitney-Events
I have three reservations up for grabs (duplicate or the customer doesn't want that particular tent):

Ammer tent Saturday 20 September (opening day), 2 - 4pm, 12 ppl. €456 plus fees (€50 +VAT where applicable +postage)
Ammer tent Saturday 20 September (opening day), 7pm - closing, 6 ppl. €348 plus fees (€50 +VAT where applicable +postage)
Poschner* tent Monday 22 September, 7pm - closing, 30 ppl. but can be purchased by table = 10 ppl., down-payment per table €250 plus fees (depending on how many tables you want, please contact me)

The reservations will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis so make up your mind quickly and PM or call me.

*This tent does not have live music!
Whitney-Events
The Poschner reservation has been scratched, the Ammer reservation Saturday evening (20 September) has been claimed. Please contact me via PM for existing duplicate reservations such as Wildmoser and Schottenhamel.
Whitney-Events
Various clients have not responded to the news of their confirmations. Therefore, following reservations are now available:

Ammer tent: Friday 26 September, 9 ppl., 1pm - 3pm €342 + €50 fee (+VAT) + €3 to 5 postage
Schottenhamel tent: Friday 26 September, 10 ppl., 11am - 4pm app. €250 + €50 fee (+VAT) + €3 to 5 postage
Schottenhamel tent: Sunday 28 September, 10 ppl., 11am - 4pm app. €250 + €50 fee (+VAT) + €3 to 5 postage
Wildmoser tent: Sunday 28 September, 10 ppl., 12pm - 2pm, app. €280 + €50 fee (+VAT) + €3 to 5 postage

Other reservations may become available within the next few days.
Please respond asap if you are interested.
eurovol
You come up with a Friday or Saturday evening table for 10 (in a tent with live crappy music), please PM me.
Whitney-Events
And another one, fresh off the press:
Ammer tent, 18 ppl. (can be split into two parties à 9), 3 - 6pm Saturday 27 September, €864 (or €432) + €50 for each table (+VAT) + €3 - 5 postage
Jonny
Whitney Events, I PM'd you yesterday but got no reply. I would be interested in the Schottenhammel tent reservation. Can you please let me know if it's still available ?
Whitney-Events
Sorry, Jonny, Whitney-Events had a business meeting with the insurance guy yesterday.
I am waiting for a response from someone who responded earlier. If I don't hear from him by this evening it's first yell first serve. About five people have said that they are interested but no one has been able to confirm yet.
Whitney-Events
The Schottenhamel reservation is gone and the others will be cancelled by Thursday if no one is interested.
Kiwijuice20
Hi There
I know this may be an impossible ask...
But would there be a chance of reserving a table on Sat the 4th Oct for 8 people??
& how much would it be roughly??

Also, if we get there early enough on the sunday, what would the chances be of getting a table in any tent?

So glad i found you on this forum!
Whitney-Events
Visiting tents without a reservation
Whitney-Events
It is now official, there are no reservations available on any evenings or weekend afternoons. I have been informed, however, that week-day noon and afternoon reservations are still available. Obtaining decent reservations this year was almost impossible even though I started sending out requests in January.

Clients, I will contact you directly if I have your e-mail addresses.
Whitney-Events
Available reservations:
Käfer on Thursday 25 September 11:30am - 3:00pm for 10 people. Costs are €350 plus my fees (€50 +VAT where applicable + postage)
Ammer on Saturday 27 September 3pm - 6pm for 9 people. Costs are €432 plus my fees (€50 +VAT where applicable + postage)
Wildmoser on Sunday 5 October 12pm - 2pm for 10 people. Costs are not yet fixed but similar to the above plus my fees (€50 +VAT where applicable + postage)
Whitney-Events
So, all the advertised tables are taken. Evening reservations are not available, same goes for weekend afternoons. Thank you to all my customers, my regrets to those whose reservation requests could not be fulfilled.
11 weeks, 4 days and counting down!
Whitney-Events
I have received two cancellations:

Thursday 25 September, 10 ppl., 12pm - 5pm in Hofbräu app. €230 + €53 fees and postage + VAT where applicable
Wednesday 1 October, 10 ppl., 3.30pm - 6.30pm in Hippodrom €280 +€53 fees and postage + VAT where applicable

Once you're in the tent you can start casting around for unreserved tables and move there before your reservation ends (but after paying up, of course) so these afternoon reservations have more potential than one would first suspect.

PM me if you're interested!
Tiz
what are the chances of 3 people wanting to reserve a spot? i understand you need 10 people or more, but if we paid for the 10, could we still reserve?
Whitney-Events
You shouldn't have any problems finding people to join you, there is an exchange thread. Just post there a few days beforehand.
HellesAngel
There are 1000s of posts on this already but for you: For three people you really don't need a reservation but do arrive at the tents early enough to be able to get in. The definition of 'early enough' depends on the weather, weekend/weekday, chosen tent, size of cleavage...
Tiz
lol.. thanks for the replies.. its helpin! So if we book a whole table for 10 and only 3 or 4 of us turn up.. do the people via that thread link re-imburse us or is the table on us?.. sorry for silly questions.. im thinking turning up early and takin the plunge is our only chance.
Whitney-Events
Yep. You post that you have e.g. 6 spaces at a table, costs for 2 beer and 1/2 chicken each € xx. Your newly found friends turn up, fork over the money and everyone has a good time.
Tiz
i will speak to my friends tonight and see what they think. thanks a million!!
Hazza
You're not going to get a reservation into one of the big tents at this late time. Anytime after February, you have no hope.

You may still be able to get a table in one of the small, less popular tents, but even then there's no guarantee.
Tiz
i cant find what tents are available and the cost for a table. a small tent would be more than just fine.
HellesAngel
If you are three people turning up in Munich to go to the Oktoberfest then a reservation is really not worth the hassle. Why not just turn up and take pot luck with who you get on the table, rather than spend ages finding a table to reserve, forking out loads of money, being tied to one tent (albeit with guaranteed entry, but then the only reservations that will be available now will be for quiet times anyway), and still having no idea who you'll end up with?
Hazza
http://www.oktoberfest.de/de/04/

It's in German, but the tents are listed A-T at the bottom. Click on the link and there'll be details of how to contact them. The normal way for most tents is to send them a fax asking for a reservation. Specify when and for how many people. You'll probably have to do it in German, too. You won't know which tents are still taking reservations until you contact them directly.

Good Luck.

EDIT: Yeah, what HellesAngel said. I wouldn't bother either, but the info's there if you really want it.
Showem
Or you can just do it in English in a couple of PMs, know you have a guaranteed spot, not spend 3 hours trying to find a place to sit down and get a beer simply by buying the table.

Reserving and/or finding a table might be easy-ish if you are in Munich, but to someone not in Munich, who doesn't speak the language and who doesn't know how to sneak in through the back doors or to go at stupid o'clock in the morning, a reservation makes sense.

Just to show the other side of the coin.
Whitney-Events
I have just been informed that due to my move I will not have internet access from 8 through 18 August. Please contact my cell phone should you have any urgent questions. Thank you!
Whitney-Events
Due to time issues I cannot process any reservation requests after 1 September as most tents have set a payment deadline for the first week in September.
Thank you for your orders, I hope those whose reservation requests I was able to fulfill have a great time. If you have any problems please SMS me and I will try to help asap.
My regrets to those whom I was unable to help. Give me another chance next year (beginning January 2009) and I will once more do my best to secure your reservations.
Cheers!

I have a late cancellation:
Saturday 20 September (opening day!) 7pm - closing in Ammer tent for six people; voucher value €348 plus €62.50 fees and costs (including VAT). This tent may look all dowdy and harmless but after 8pm it starts rocking, lots of room to dance in the aisles, Augustiner beer, Weißbier and the best chickens of the whole Oktoberfest.
PM me if you are interested.
Whitney-Events
The reservation was snapped up at 10:26 am, fast work!
Whitney-Events
Snapped up too fast, seems the client was double-booked. Last offer, or I cancel the reservation altogether!
Whitney-Events
It's official, my last available reservation has found a new and safe home.
Phew, now I can start enjoying myself!
