I need to know:

What to bring, what to leave behind
Should I bring my car or leave it behind?
Jobs for military spouses?
What is there to do around K-Town which is near the base.
DanHessen
I'm sure the Canadian Military has an office that willl answer a lot of your questions. Will you reside on or off post?
Conquistador
You will definitely need a car, even for use on base.

Looks like we will be living off base. Probably about 15 to 20 mins drive from RAB.
Any suggestions on buying or bringing a car? Which is better, etc..

You can buy a car from the "lemon Lot" on base. There are also many places in the vicinity offering their wares. Everything is catered to for the huge American population that resides in the area. I lived there for 8 years and hated it. If you want to experience Germany at it's best then try and live 30 minutes way from the base. Every town near the base is teeming with Americans and it has infiltrated German society in the area to a huge extent. Germans in the area will either love you or hate you.
Kaiserslautern is grotty, it's an industrialized town with little to offer.

This is a crap website but it has a lot of info about the KMC germany infosite

It's also what you make of it- you will be in Europe so travel as much as you can. There are a lot of great places within driving distance. Don't hang around on the weekends and holidays and you will have much fonder memories of the place.

Or you can try the more official, up to date sites..

Global Security:KMC
OCONUS
US Army Kaiserslautern News
US Army Kaiserslautern
Kaiserslautern American News

Or your choice of any one of the other 13k links on google

Lived there for 4 years off base. It was great. You should be able to get everything you need there. There are always people leaving so buying second hand anything is not a problem.
