Has anyone made any plans for this Sunday?

Given that the game will be sometime midnight - 4 AM, the closest to Charlottenburg works for me...Right now, that's Belushi's unless someone else has a better suggestion? (although I know there will also be a contingent going to Salama's).

Per NASN:

Sun 3 Feb

00:00 New England vs NY Giants - Super Bowl XLII - NFL

Tom Brady and the Patriots (18-0) will be hoping to cap a perfect season with victory in Super Bowl XLII against Eli Manning and the Giants (13-6) at the University of Phoenix Stadium.

I'm game for Belushi's - but wow that's late!

Between the proximity and the oxygen levels, I'll go with Belushi's as well.

Rose, the advantage to the game being so late is that the BVG is back on the day schedule by the time it ends ;-)

I know of a few places that will have the game on. Here are some options:

Belushi's
No smoking, plenty of screens and I'm sure there will be plenty of people. Would plan on getting there early and getting seats.

Oscar Wilde
I have been told by the owner he will be showing the game. Two big screens. One smoking room and one non-smoking room. He is hoping for a crowd.

The Bird
I know The Bird has NASN and have asked if they were going to have the game. One of the bartenders said yes but wasn't sure if they were going to do a Super Bowl party type of thing. Disadvantages to Bird. Bit of a walk from U2 and small TV up high. I think they also allow smoking after 10pm or so.

Kilkenny's
Saw a poster on the door saying they would show the game. Advantage- Sbahn stop. Disadvantages- expensive tourist beers and it often smells like, well, puke in there.

Salamas
Possibly too small and too packed?

The No Name Bar
Really, I don't know the name of this place. But I do know they have a back room that is neither too small nor too big. They have NASN and have said they would show the game. I think there are two, nice big flat screen TVs back there so it would be like a Super Bowl party room. It's a few blocks walk from Eberswalder and I'm 98.2% sure it's on Husemannstrasse between Woertherstrasse and Sredzkistrasse. It's around the corner from the "American" restaurant/bar which is on Sredzkistrasse. Wish I could be more specific. I just know how to get there. It's the place with all the little flags/banners hanging from the outside.

Is there any chance they will be showing it on German TV?

According to www.Skysports.com, they are playing the game. So any bar with Sky should have it.

I'll be at Belushi's with some friends. I'm going to try to get some squares going at either 1 or 2 euro a square. Just like home :-)

Hi all-
I'm new to Toytown (I introduced myself on the newbies page) and arrived in Berlin about 3 weeks ago. I was also looking for a place to watch the game, so it sounds like Belushi's is the place to go? How early would you say I have to get there to get a seat?

Thanks!!
jtw
Note that kickoff isn't until about half-past midnight, although Belushi's is starting its pregame festivities at 9pm. I suspect the place will be full of people who were worried everyone else would show up before they did. wink.gif

i would just like to put on record that i feel like an idiot for ever going anywhere besides belushi's to watch a football game.

I would like to go on record that my eyes are extremely heavy right now, and my throat is still sore. Good times!
Roman_from_Toronto
I would just like to say that that was one of the best nights in a long long time. What a blast and what a game!
