Have to go for a
Septoplasty tomorrow and wanted to know if any TTer have had the honor of going under the knife in this fine Medical establishment ? " Klinikum Rechts der
Isar "
According to my HNO Prof'/ Doc I have a
deviated septum and my chronic sinus problems will be cured!
Any horror stories either...or do i really want to know?

I had a good friend that was there for quite some time. He had been at nearly every hospital in the area and said that Klinikum Rechts der
Isar was one of the better ones. I trust his judgement.

had an emergency caesarian section there 14 years ago and nearly died from excess blood loss, but the procedure and aftercare were fine! Not got much to do with noses though I am afraid!

I had a deviated septum done here in Munich, but not there, No worries, I had no pain afterwards or swelling. You will feel groggy for a day or two.

An acquaintance of mine had his whole face remodeled there, including breaking and readjusting his jaw. He paid DM 10,000 for it although people were willing to do it for free. He was in for three weeks and said apart from the pain it was brilliant, very good treatment and aftercare.
Good luck!

one of my coworkers husband was there about 6 months (he had an inoperable brain tumour), and she said the staff there were very good and very supportive.

I had emergency surgery there a few years ago in the HNO floor. I have private hospital insurance, so got the best of the best. But they were great to me, and I would recommend the hospital for sure. If I ever need surgery in the future, I will definitely go there.

I had surgery and various other bits and bobs of treatment a couple of years ago and everything was fine - can recommend it highly.

My husband works there. the quality of medicine varies from department to department according to him. Ill ask him what he thinks. I think HNO is pretty good.

They only recently stopped sending bills, Mahnungen and some poor schlub every few months who'd knock on my door, insisting that the hospital was trying to pursue a friendly and non-courtroom way of getting me to pay the €300 or so they claimed I owed them. They were even willing to drop all the legal and Mahnung charges if I'd just work out some sort of payment system, even just €5 a month.
Not two minutes before the guy knocked on my door the last time I happened to be sorting some boxes and so had just seen -- and was able again to locate -- the boarding passes from IcelandAir which proved I was 2600km away in the North Atlantic when this treatment took place.
woof.

thought I might reply to this again and inform anyone who is interested that my nose job went well...I still have a massive honker of a nose but it works correctly (I think). My nic isnt Gonzo for nothing
The hospital was great, nice room (private room thank god!) Nurses were friendly enough, thou one treated me like a piece of meat! She was teaching a younger nurse how to measure blood pressure and pulse and just pulled my arm and man-handeled me (correct word to use here?)
The doctors seemed all younger than me! They were all scared of the Proffessor, and so was I! But he had a sense of humor, I suppose you have to have a sense of hunmor when looking in ppls noses all day every day ...
For what its worth I had pain, tablets worked well but it was very uncomfortable with tampons the lenght of Florida stuck up my nose! Oh and when they took them out...jeez! then they sucked out the blood with a long hoover thingy...oh man that was weird... sucking sensation and noise from behind your eyeballs!
So I was 6 days in the Klinik and I never want to go back! Touch wood!

Oh dear, that's not how I meant my remark at all! I know that you were medically indicated, but anyone considering a cosmetic nosejob should be warned. Especially about the sound behind your eyes. I think I won't sleep so well tonight ...

I had a hernia done there. The surgeons were very competent. But the nurses were horrific.
Imagine your typical middle aged supermarket checkout assistant who hates her job, and customers. Remove her compassion and puther in a white uniform. Those were the nurses.
