DDBug

Renia
Me too!
sarabyrd
Me three, I am still figuring out how to get there from Lehel.

EDIT: streetcar 27 and meet up at Kurfürstenplatz?
Ruthie
We (Tobi and I) might come along early as well -- when will you be meeting? Cafe Schwabing? (Right at Kurfürstenplatz)
Renia
I am going to be on the U3/6, so walking from there.
Panama
Cafe Schwabing sounds good, it's almost across the street from the Blue Nile. 6:30?
ruapehu
and me! If this continues, Panama, you're gonna have to reserve there too biggrin.gif
Renia
Does BlueNile have a website? I can´t find one...
Jeeves
Cafe Schwabing at 6:30 sounds good to me
alimess
Blue Nile does not have a website. Cafe Schwabing sounds great!

The tram 27 is the easiest way of getting there.
alimess
Ok we are eight at the moment. I will wait a bit more and call Cafe Schwabing. Panama you have done enough organsing so I'll take care of that.
Panama
Good you can take care of the drinks. I'll go into a meeting now and won't be around until about 5 or 6.
canuck
Could be difficult getting space in Cafe Schwabing as the Bayern game starts at 6:45...and it's always full for footy. Just to let you guys know...
alimess
ok I ll give a call now!
alimess
Called them and since we are not eating and only drinking they can't take a reservation. So we must prey that there will be space!
ruapehu
Thanks alimess! It's not really tragic if we can't fit in there...worst case, we can just wander up to Blue Nile early and start drinking there, no? Seem to remember they have some deadly palm wine stuff..which I'm sure I could do with early..and later...and still later smile.gif
Tiggi
Honey wine! Never thought I'd like that but it's great.
eurobabs
Why not go to Taco y Tequila for happy hour before, or El Patio, are both only a couple min walk away???
DDBug
Well, I HAVE to go to Lebenslust on the way to return a CD I borrowed from the owner last week, so I will probably have my drink in there, and it is right at the Ubahn exit for Blue Nile for those of you taking the U2. ..
alimess
well I think that I will stick to Cafe Schwabing... although I don#t really understand why they can't take reservations for drinks only!
Renia
Happy Hour sounds good!

Honey wine!

oops, hick, started too early today. Palm wine different others stuff, drunk in different other African place.

Cocktails somewhere would be a BAD mix for me with the palm honey wine, so I think I'll still toddle along to Café Schwabing, and if it's full just continue to Blue Nile.

See you all wherever/whenever!
alimess
ok suggestion, Tacos y Tequitla is used to having TT so should not be a big deal to get a table to drink only! I suggest meeting there at 18:30, DDbug you won't be far away so can drop by.
Uncle Nick
So who's going to Cafe Schwabing and who's going to Tacos y Tequila for pre-dinner drinks?
Jeeves
Thanks for the heads-up, Canuck. I guess I'll just trawl the bars around Hohenzollernplatz and Kurfüstenplatz and and and until I find someone I know. Or just take a newspaper.
Ruthie
I pass first Tacos y Tequila and then Cafe Schwabing on my way to the Blue Nile, so I will just pop my head in the doors as I walk by to see if I see familiar faces. Probably won't be there right at 18:30 -- depends on the state of my dog's paws (I smashed one under a heavy door) and how much he is or isn't limping.
alimess
chaotic is perfect!! its gonna be a kind of mini pub crawl.
DDBug

No, FIRST you pass Lebenslust, then Tacos y Tequila ... biggrin.gif
Ruthie
True...*thoughtfully rubbing chin between forefinger and thumb"
Jeeves
Yeah, that would be a bit of a stagger otherwise.

Me, I'll just fall out of the U2 and see what happens.

eurobabs

DDBug

let me guess... Amy Winehouse ?
Panama
Ok, just breathing a bit here. I'll go to Café Schwabing and if it's too full will just go to Blue Nile and order something with alcohol there.

I'm at TyT at 6.30, hope there will be others there then!!
alimess
I ll be there!! just 2 minutes away.
sarabyrd
Quite an experience.
Considering that we were almost 30 ppl the service was very good, never hectic, always friendly. I shared a starter for two with three others and everyone had enough to tantalize them (Sambuca on lollo-rosso with creamed cheese and lentils). Then we shared the mixed platter for four: Chicken in sweet sauce, beef and tomato in chilli sauce, carrots and onions, lentils with garlic, spinach and creamed cheese, all on a bed of flat spelt bread. And no silverware. The best reason to maintain personal hygiene indeed.
Everything was seasoned with care, even though the chicken was no more than good, bit boring and bland. The beef, however, was delightful, tender with firm cooked tomatoes and a warming aftertaste. And the carrots and onions were sweet without being sticky, lovely.
All in all, the food was finger-licking good (see gallery once the pictures are up), the seats very sit-able, if I hadn't had to catch an S-Bahn (that was 5 minutes late) I would have enjoyed a cup of goat's milk with honey or whatever liqueur they would have served.
Panama, thank you for organizing, great job.
Allershausen
Yep, food was very tasty and as Sarabyrd says the service was attentive and friendly. The S-Bahn was late but fortunately I had someone to talk to! biggrin.gif
Thanks Panama for organising, it was grand.
Renia
Wonderful night! Thanks for organising Panama, you did a great job.
coolerking
first thanks panama for organizing . my meal lamb with veg was boring no taste . i expected something different then just eating the food with your fingers, lamb tasted like its been in the cooking pot all day.on the positive side apart from the food was a enjoyable night and i guess thats what tt eating events are about.
Renia
What "something different" did you expect Coolerking? smile.gif
Panama
I had a good time, was nice to see some people after a long time and to meet a couple of new faces. My food was tasty and with the right amount of spice. All in all a great night out.

Just for the sake of awareness someone forgot to pay half of a mixed starter. It's not really a problem since it was only 3 euro I guess.

Thanks all for coming along.
PaulaJ
Thanks Panama for organizing the event! I enjoyed both the food and the company.

Three of us shared the mixed starter for two and a main course platter for two. I believe all of us had enough to eat. I especially liked the spicy lentil dish on our platter and I'm curious to know what that stuff was called (perhaps MadAxeMurderer could enlighten me on this). It was my first time at the Blue Nile and I'll definitely be going there again.
Ruthie
Loads of fun, thank you Panama. I actually enjoyed the less spicy stuff (though not crazy about the lentils or spinach) -- some of you probably have hardened tummies because of curry!
