Hi All,
My salsa class might not be for everyone because it's an ongoing weekly course. (If anyone is interested I will post the info though.) If you're looking for a club where you can get a free salsa lesson and then dance all night, there are quite a few options. I haven't been to these yet but I'd like to give them a go. Here is the full list:
http://koeln.salsa-macht-spass.de/partys.phpI have been most interested in these two:
Herbrands: (every Thursday from 21:45) (first and third Friday from 22:00)
http://www.herbrands.de/de/5.phpClub Deja Vu: (every Wednesday from 20:00)

Hey all! My name's Amanda and I just moved to Cologne on Monday. Started working on Tuesday and finally managed to get some sleep on Friday thanks to the bank holiday. I know nobody in Cologne!! So I'd appreciate any meet ups or general info on how to meet people. The people I work with are nice, but they seem to have already established their lives here through boyfriends/ girlfriends etc. I know these things take time to establish so this looks like a good place to start! x

Hi, I'm Richard (as you probably guessed from my name!) and I'm 30. I'm not exactly new to Cologne (I've been here 7 years, I think), and I've also been a member of this forum for quite a while, but I've just lurked and haven't written anything. When I first came here, I was working as an English teacher, so I knew a lot of English native speakers, but now, most of them have left. I know a lot of Germans here, but I really miss doing things with other native speakers. I'd really like the chance to get to know some of you in the near future! I'm mad on sports, like music and going to concerts, and learning new languages. It would be great if you could let me know the next time you're having a get-together, I'd love to come along!

Hey all, obvious really but the best place to find out about meetups is to check the meetups section of the forum fairly frequently

There are regular coffee meetups on Thursdays and semi-regular brunches on Sunday midday too.

Hello everybody!
I moved straight from Ealing, London to Cologne for work about a week ago and man, how I wish I had paid some attention during German class at school.. Sadly, the number of people I know in Germany (let alone Cologne!) barely makes double figures, and even they are all from work but all very agreable people I must add. Right now feeling a little bit overwhelmed by a combination of the inpenetrable Healthinsuranceandtaxcardesidenceregistrationetc and the Language Barrier. Like some people have said above, I'd appreciate some meetups and meeting some of you guys.
Thanks

SCLM/mlgunnnel...
Drinks tonight perhaps? I know a cracking bar that has karaoke and free shots every time you sing... the beer down that way is uber cheap too, in case you are on a budget..

Hi, My name is Meredith, and I am 22, soon to be 23 from Philadelphia USA. I have been in Germany since May after graduating University. I wanted to originally stay only 3 months but ended up staying for another yea on top of that near cologne working as an au pair, so if anyone is interesting in getting together, grabbing a drink, or clubbing, do not hesitate to message me. I am always interested in meeting a new face!

Hi! I am a student from Florida studying in Cologne for the next 3 months. I have already been here a month. The reason for my post is that I would like to meet more people in Germany and get a feel for the culture. My study group consists of 23 students total. However, we will be traveling together for the next 14 months. I am also much more of a hang out at the house and play cards or go to a bar girl than I am a club girl and that seems to conflict with the rests of the group's interests. I love to play Phase 10 and Spades. If anyone would like to meet-up or hang out, I would really enjoy it! Also, is there anything going on for Halloween in Cologne?

Okay Z.
Well I came to germany without the intention of staying. Its much easier to get your visa once youre here. But I just went on the Aupairworld.net , made a profile, and got tons of responses, met some families, and choose the one I am with now. However, my contract is with In Via Au Pair. You can go on to their website. Theyre really nice, and make sure everything is going well with us au pairs. Well.. hope I helped

Hello. My first post! I'll be moving to Cologne next Tuesday from the US with my company. Actually have never been to Cologne, either. I'll be taking German classes (any recommendations?) when I get there as I only know a few words and phrases. I'm male and enjoy sports, beer, music, and willing to try just about everything. I need to find a place to live still but will do that when I arrive.
Anyway, I look forward to meeting a lot of you. Maybe for a Thanksgiving meet up (for any Americans). Toytown's a great site.

Check out rhinemagazine.com - they're based in Cologne and have lots of info about the city - in Engish. Might help you out when you first arrive. Good luck!

tripp,
Yes, I'll be checking out the weekly NFL meet ups. I've got two fantasy football teams, so I'm heavily invested!
I'll also check out the rhinemagazine.
See you guys soon.
