Frankfurt writers group, weekly meet ups

Hi everyone,

I recently moved to Frankfurt and I'd like to join or start a writers group. I'm a hobbyist writer, with current plans for both a fiction (novel) and non-fiction (article or short book, history) project that I'd eventually like to publish. Any writers out there want to meet up and discuss plans, critique work and keep each other motivated? Or are there already writers groups out there?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reach English-speaking writers through other means (other forums, clubs, etc)?

There are some writers out here. (I have three young kids under the age of 5, so I don't always have as much time as I'd like).

I'm game, and actually I paid for a Meetup one-month membership in order to start up a Mama's Meetup this month.

So I can post information for a Writers Meetup as well (I just checked and picked next Wednesday at a default...fourth Wed of the month).
We can also post it on Frankfurt Craig's List once we decide.

7:30/8pm would work better for me (so that I can put the kids to bed first). What about location? Shall we pick something on the Fressgasse? That's pretty central and easy to get to. I know there's a Starbucks there, but I'm not sure what time they close.

Another possibility is the cafe upstairs in Kaufhof. I'm not sure how late they're open, but it's also easy to get to (and may be more quiet?)

Let me know and then I can add the info to Meetup.

Frankfurt centre is good really...

I write educational stuff but very interested in screen play writing and fiction... One of my problems is not having a good library here (or I yet have to discover) access like in London and the British Library for research, I had spend many days there in the past and really a great place...

Frankfurt center sounds good, and Fressgasse/ Grosse Bockenheimer Strasse would be fine. I'll stop by the Starbucks there and see how late it's open. If anyone stops by Kaufhof, maybe he or she could check the cafe hours?

Did anyone find out the hours for Starbucks or Kaufhauf's?

I was in Kaufhauf's cafe till 8 pm on Sat and checked the door it said week days shuts at 9 pm

I wish we can meet a bit early really, i like to meet at 16:30 and end 18:00 but I am not sure if you are all working etc.. so anyway 7:30 is OK too gives us one hour and half.

I just called Starbucks and it's open until 10 PM during the week, so this is a good option. However, it can get a bit full; we should try to get an idea of how many we are.

Alternately, if we can push it over to Wednesday, March 5th, we could meet at my place. It's in Nordend and very close to the center of town (one stop away on the U5 from Konstalaberwache). We've just moved in so things a little "barren", but we do have couches and chairs in the living room. Let me know if that would work!

Generally, evenings are better for me, so I'd prefer to meet up around 7 or 7:30 PM.

That's very generous of you to offer your home, but I think until we all meet in person, it may be best to stick to a public place. Some folks may not be comfortable going to a stranger's home. But we'll make note of this option for the future!

And its not like that we would bite new people.
We are a a group of open minded writer / bibliophilics ( that does not automatically include THE book), who present their stuff or discuss about the extracts/ stories a fellow writer presented.
So even if you just see something else in a book besides the shore that you can book under a table to prevent it from wobbling, you are very welcome each and every week, as it is always nice to get some feedback/ critic about one`s scripts.
