Football: England vs. Switzerland

9pm Wednesday 6.Feb.2008 @ The Arc

I thought I'd post this now, as its not long off.

Anyone fancy joining me at the Arc to watch Capellos first game in charge of England. Lets see how 'Fab' he really is!

When does the squad get announced? We certainly wont have Terry or Lampard due to injury. I doubt Robinson will get a call, I'm thnking that might go to calamity. Beckham should get his 100th cap, I see no reason why not.

BBC has a time of 8pm, so that'd be a 9pm kick off here. I reckon on being there about 7pm.

Normally this would easily get the nod over curry, but a 9 p.m. kick-off for a friendly, as interesting as it should be? Nah.

loved this bit smile.gif

"Capello told the squad their failure to qualify for Euro 2008 was because they had played football with a consistently high-degree of awfulness."
Guy
Which isn't true. They couldn't even be consistent about that!

I'll be in the Arc around 8.15 or shortly after. Kick off isnt until 9pm anyway.

Anyone know if they're showing this game on normal German TV?
Jeeves
At a guess no, since Germany are playing tonight too. Eurosport are showing something else, can't remember what, it was that interesting.

Don't matter who the manager is, England friendlies are the dullest games on Gods earth. The best part is watching Linnekar and co on the BBC trying to pretend that there was something worth watching out there. They gave Bently a thumbs up. If Beckham had played that badly they would have killed him. His passing was awful. Defending as a whole wasn't even close to being European class let alone world class. Wayne Rooney tried so hard to concede a penalty at the end. Dull bollox.

I just read this article. Didn't see any mention of why Lampard should not play. Me thinks your mind wants to see that, but reality is somewhat different. I saw mention that Gerrard was a little muscular and that he and Lampard were the same player, but it didn't say Lampard was the one who should give way. Just your wishful thinking.

Too true! I lost interest 20 mins into the game and I don't think God would have lasted that long.
