I grew up in San Diego, U.S.A. and earned a Bachelor`s degree from the University of California at San Diego. Since more than a decade I have thoroughly enjoyed treating many English-speaking patients from around the world. As someone who is familiar with living overseas, I completely understand how it feels to need medical and dental care in a foreign country.

Our team takes pride in building a trusting and courteous relationship with our patients. We provide services at the highest level of care; continuing education and training in our chosen field keeps us knowledgeable and skilled in state-of-the-art procedures and in the use of the latest technology.

Whether it is a common problem, dental disease or damage from trauma, we are able to restore our patients´smiles with the highest quality of advanced general and cosmetic dentistry.

Services provided in our office include individualized hygiene sessions, tooth whitening, invisible/tooth colored composite fillings and veneers, inlays, crowns, implant-crowns, bridges, root canals (certified by eazf, 2008) and fitting with partials or dentures. We also perform dental surgery, including periodontal treatments, simple or complex tooth extractions.

Please feel free to schedule an appointment with me by calling 089/300-6283. Our practice accepts all insurances, public and private, and we are happy to help you with any of your questions and concerns.

I am looking forward to meeting you!

This review of Dr. Selmair was sent to me via email by someone who doesn't have or want a forum account (email address can be provided):

If your knowledge of the German language is as limited as mine, you may know how difficult it is to have a positive experience at the barber shop, let alone the dentist's office. My previous experiences with 'English-speaking' dentist offices in Germany have been what I would call abortive, not even getting to the stage of successfully booking an appointment.

Luckily, I stumbled upon Dr. Selmair's advertisement in Toytown when my situation seemed desperate. At that point I'd had a toothache for over one month and my face had begun to swell grotesquely. Having no dental insurance in the United States, I hadn't even gone for a check-up for several years, and so I was reluctant to start now in Munich. Now I hardly had the option.

I called Dr. Selmair's office and was able to book an appointment with the receptionist for that same day and was given a sort of emergency treatment by Dr. Selmair so that I could return to work later that day. In that time, a couple of x-rays were taken as well as high-resolution digital pictures of the problem areas.

Dr. Selmair explained to me, in fluent and precise English, exactly the location and extent of the problem, and the treatment options, including a state-of-the-art root canal treatment and composite fillings which look exactly like the actual tooth in the pictures.

So far, I've had three visits to her office and will have had four in total. Though the receptionists' English is not as good as Dr. Selmair's, I've never had a problem booking an appointment with them. The procedures themselves (one root canal and three fillings) were almost entirely painless and were performed both quickly and carefully. Having not gone to a dentist in so long and given the extent of the problem, I approached the situation with quite a bit of trepidation, but was put entirely at ease after my intial appointment by the way I was treated. No one likes going to the dentist, but I feel quite a bit better having gone to this one.

Just wanted to note that I paid a visit to Dr. Selmair last week and found the experience to be wonderful. She was very friendly, took great care with her work, seemed to know quite well what she was doing and made me feel thoroughly comfortable. Excellent English (as advertised), though she's happy to speak German or French if you prefer. I had been having tooth pain all week but after X-rays and everything we didn't find anything. She made sure to explain to me all the possible things that it could have been but recommended strongly that I wait a few more days to see if the issue went away, rather than doing something rash and unnecessary. I took that advice and the issue did, in fact, go away. I was very pleased that she would rather not perform work that is not needed. She also gave me a cleaning while I was there. And all this on my (relatively) lousy AOK insurance.

She and her office staff handled themselves very professionally, were able to give me a same-day appointment, and were a delight to deal with. I'll definitely go back.

Also, the office is immaculate.

I had an excellent experience in Dr. Selmair's practice. First of all, it was centrally located and easy to find by U-bahn stop Münchner Freiheit. The practice is situated in the heart of Munich, in the beautiful Munich-Schwabing on Clemensstrasse. I saw Dr. Selmair to have a wisdom tooth removed, which I was hesitant about, after hearing that several of my friends had bad experiences with this procedure. Dr. Selmair assured me that it would be easy and painless. She did the procedure in two steps, the first removing the gum tissue around the tooth and the second removing the tooth itself. The injections she gave were quick and painless and only numbed the single tooth she was working on, not my entire mouth, lips, and tongue which was especially nice. When she removed the wisdom tooth, it took less than three seconds and I did not feel anything at all. I did not feel any pressure, pulling, or pain of any kind. I didn't hear any frightening noises or feel uncomfortable in any way. It was the quickest and most painless procedure I have ever had at a dental office, and was a surprisingly pleasant experience overall. Dr. Selmair took the time to assure me that everything would go smoothly, and it was evident how hard she works hard to build trust in her patients. She was confident yet gentle and I have since then recommended her to all of my friends in and around Munich. After my extraction, I took one IBProfin for preventative measures and ate pasta for dinner that evening. By the next day I was eating as I normally would and didn't need any medication as I had no pain. The extraction site completely within a week and I couldn't have been happier with the whole experience. I highly recommend this talented dentist, who is not only fluent in my native language of English, but also her native language of German and French as well! Visited Dr. Isabel Selmair last week for some urgent fillings that were extremely close to the nerve, and the risk was the nerve could be damaged resulting in root canal treatment. However, this was not needed and Dr. Selmair did a fantastic job repairing both teeth, without pain. She is warm, kind, and considerate and I would highly recommend you go here first if you have any tooth complaints.

I've been visiting Dr. Selmair since many years now and have to say, that the treatment and everything else was always exellent!!!
In this practise you are guaranteed to get a professional treatment! It is also very helpful, that french, english and german is spoken fluently.
The doctor spent a very long time in an english speaking country and can therefore be seen as a native english speaker.
You can get to the practise easily, when you take the subway to the station "Muenchner Freiheit". From there, you only have to walk about 3 more minutes.

Nice greetings...

I went to see Dr. Selmair a couple months ago on the basis of the above recommendations. I agree she is nice and friendly and her English is very good. However, the experience in its entirety left me with a bad taste in my mouth (pardon the pun). First, she spent at least 20 minutes trying to sell me 200 euro electric toothbrush. Secondly, when I got her bill, she had charged 180 euros for what amounted to a cleaning and an x-ray (that proved inconclusive). Half the bill, however was down to certain vague examinations and analyses that she had evidently done. A 3 minute video exam (you get to see your teeth on tv) costs 60 euros, for instance. I do recall she asked me if I'd like to see my teeth on tv, and since the machine was right there I said sure. I had no idea it would cost 60 euros however. I don't meant to be cheap about this. It isn't even my money - my insurance covers it. I just feel something is wrong about this. Call me cynical, but I do get the sense that she padded her bill because she new I had private insurance that would pay for it. I am American and know from personal experience and that of my relatives there that this kind of padding of medical bills for people who have good insurance is common practice and price discrimination is egregious... and I think this is a symptom of how messed up things are in the US health system. I would hate to see Germany's system go down this road.

Both my friend and I are very happy to recommend Dr. Isabel Selmair and her friendly staff. From day one a few months ago she took the time to show us - and made sure we understood - the top priorities in treatment and built up from there.
Very handy came in the enlarged views of the problem teeth and gums , certainly motivated someone as critical as I who has to see in order to believe.
Also, our daily hygiene status profited immensely: good-bye bleeding gums, hello to a clean, polished smile having switched to the recommended electrical toothbrush which is a good deal since you probably won´t need dental hygienist sessions any more.
We´re very happy with our new fillings, crowns, whitened teeth and with our overall improved health status, let alone quality of life!

I wanted to continue the thread of great recommendations for Dr. Selmair that was more recent. I had two wisdom teeth pulled out. I was incredibly nervous (granted right?) about it bc I never had real problems with my teeth. She was awesome! Although I had started to feel some pain with the first tooth, she had no problem with putting more local anesthetic while comforting me. After that, I felt absolutely nothing, actually, I hadnt realized that she was done. I also didnt hear any ugly noises, nor feel tugging and although I was shaking in my boots it was shocking to know it went smoothly.

I was shocked how quick and easy it was. I was able to go home by Ubahn with no problem. I took an ibuprofen when i got home and since have had no pain. I even went back so she can check it and clean the food out.
Ive heard and read horror stories of teeth extractions but thank heavens that Ive had none and I do believe its her expertise. her english is good, I understood her perfectly and her assistant was also lovely and was able to speak english as well. I would recommend her to anyone who need an english speaking dentist. Shes also in a great location, its easy access to the ubahn.

Im one happy patient.
