Public liability insurance for a new company

Is it a requirement in Germany?

We are setting up a company in Germany and I am trying to find out if you need public liability insurance like we do in the UK?

Also, does anybody know where I can find information about German Employment Law but in English?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Assuming you are gonna get some kinda premises you will need shop or office insurance - and they always tack on £1,000,000 or whetever of 3rd party liability insurance anyway. So it will be in the deal basically.

Cheap as chips anyways so dont sweat about the ins and outs - just pay it.

I think it depends on the kind of business. There isnt a general rule, as far as I know. If you need a permission for your business you will probably be told if you need one...

Some answers in this English translations of the "Arbeitsgesetz"...
And you could always buy a book.

You need professional help.
Steuerberater or Anwalt.
It's just so different from the US/UK
and if you go wrong it costs!

Which is precisely why he needs (but probably is not required to have) public liability insurance
