The next James Bond film is to be called Quantum of Solace, producers have confirmed. The title is taken from one of a collection of short stories published by 007 creator Ian Fleming in 1960.
Tell that to Fleming. And get ready for "The Hildebrand Rarity" in which Bond investigates a case where someone kills a tropical fish.

They'll be filming some scenes for this in Panama in February.

As already assumed, James Bond will head to Latin America in Daniel Craig’s second outing as Agent 007. Associated Press reports today, that shooting will begin in the middle of February in a colonial neighbourhood of the capital of Panama City.
Filming will take place in at least two sites of the so-called Casco Antiguo (“old quarter) of the city on the Pacific coast, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. According to AP, the seat of the National Institute of Culture and some private buildings will be used for shooting. The filming will last about a week and will be conducted mainly in the afternoon and evening, according to Ariel Espino, director of the Office of the Casco Antiguo...
I saw an interview last night (RTL?) where the actor that plays 007 (can't remember his name since I think he's the worst Bond ever) stated that the new movie starts 20 minutes after where Casino Royal left off. It could be interesting. I don't think there's been another Bond film that has been made as a sequal to a previous film.

Literary boy steps in again. Both novels "From Russia with Love" and "You Only Live Twice" were cliff hangers. FRwL ended with Bond falling to the ground after having been poisoned by Rosa Klebb (he survives) and YOLT ends with Bond suffering from amnesia eventually to be brainwashed by Soviet agents (he gets over it).

At the beginning of For your eyes only he's laying flowers on his wife's grave (she got plugged at the end of on her Majesty's secret service)

And during OHMSS, when he (temporarily) retires, he goes through his desk drawer and pulls out- among other things- the knife that Honey Rider had in Dr. No.
yeah these "Bond" movies might just take off what with the success of the Bourne series.
I do like the Bourne movies and also the Daniel Craig incarnation of Bond.

no !! you lie . he is the best bond ever the rest were all a bunch of tossers only liked by boring sentimentilists like yourself and like will be one day
I have to say that the more I listen to the Quantum of Solacetheme song from Jack White and Alicia Keys the more I think it sounds lame. Very disappointed. Amy Winehouse could've done a better job.
does anyone know where one can watch "quantum of solace" undubbed in düsseldorf?

Perhaps keep an eye on the original language schedule for the Düsseldorf CineStar in Oberkassel. It's been years since I've lived in Düsseldorf but I understand the Oberkassel theater still plays original language films. The German version of Quantum of Solace starts there the first week of November.
movie sucked. 5 out of 10 in james bond rating. imo, james bond is dead and just another action character the world doesn't really need anymore. bring back the characteristics of jb, some humour, wit, brain and charme... (oh, and what's the point of fighting scene where you can't see a thing?)

Must disagree. Like many things, this franchise is evolving and is taking more of a dark view like the recent Batman movies. IMHO, this was a great follow up to Casina Royale and is consistent with the character from there.

Agreed with planetmoni: 5 out of 10. Can't agree Bond is dead but this one was just sooo much worse than Casino Royale. But have to give credit to the fighting scene on ropes - very nice idea imo, even if copied from somewhere

After thinking about it a little more, I would have to say too much action, not enough talking...which might make it less rewatchable than CS for me. I missed something like the card playing scenes as well.

Liked it a lot, still undecided if the mix of elements was ideal - there were a lot of nostalgic Bond reference - will be more obvious with a second viewing.
I think Marc Foster's directing... they just tried to put sooo much in the film that had grabbed success in other movies - Bond and others, it detracted from the story, and also didn't give enough time for dialogue. For the record, I like the new Bond.

I read that the fact that the film centered on revenge was the main reason for the lack of dialogue, etc. This was a different direction for Bond, but I really liked it.

we loved it, really fast action, lots of violence and a bad French guy. am loving Craig's sinister and intense portrayal as Bond. I'd also read that somewhere Larkin. great follow on to Casino Royal. wanna see it again!

i just got back from seeing this movie. in scenes with spanish & french dialogue, was there supposed to be subtitles? we saw it here in mannheim and a few words here and there are okay, but they had actual real dialogue in thsoe languages sometimes. my spanish is fair, but well, i don't speak a lick of french.

I haven't seen this film yet, and I'm not going to read anything posts about it. But I have a suggestion as an interesting experiment, if some of you are willing to help. At the top of this topic (and every other topic) at the right there is a Rating box with 5 stars. Normally that's meant to rate the value of the actual topic. But as an experiment, why don't those of you who have seen the movie put in a rating there for what you think of the movie. With 1 being awful and 5 being great. I'm curious to see if we'll get an idea of what TTers rate the movie. I'll add my own when I eventually see it.

For me it was one of the best Bond films ever – this one and Diamonds are Forever. Good action, story, sets, locations and characters.
It could have had more hi-tech gadgets though and the theme song is a real washout, they should have had something by Amie Winemouth or Leona Lewis or Robbie. The French villain's beady eyes were also stupid.

EF, I saw the English version and when they blabbed away in other languages like Italian or Spanish there were no sub-titles. Six Aston Martins were wrecked making this film.

I don't like Daniel Craig. He looks to me more like tha baddie rather than Bond. Bring back Pierce Brosnan!! Also I find the clips to be quite violent and 'real' rather than the older films which were more tonge-in-cheek.

yep, we missed the gadgets too, where was M?? and the theme tune was rubbish. good opening sequence though, lots of hot girlies! Casino Royale was the only Bond film opening that didn't feature hot girlies!
there were only snippets here and there of Spanish and French dialogue which we understood, perhaps subtitles would be good tho.
I missed Bond in his swimming trunks, but we'll always have Casino Royale

M was there -- Judi Dench. I think you're missing Q -- Desmond Llewelyn. Or John Cleese.
I thought it was neat to have the other languages without subtitles. I understood enough to know that it wasn't necessary for understanding the plot.
Theme song sucked big time. Awwwwwwful.
Also enjoyed that Bond has an inner life now. Psychology. Very cool. For the old style Bond just watch the old ones, no Bond has lived up to Connery anyhow, so might as well change the concept.

No feckin gadgets.
What bothered me was the whole thing was too action packed - his missus in the Casino Royale had a bit of dialogue as well - there was no romance at all in this one...
Thought that Casino Royale was one of the best Bond's ever , need to get yer man Craig back on de roids.

Just my €0.02's worth, I've watched the movie and played the game.
I like the new Bond character, as I liked it when Pierce Brosnan brought a darkness to the character at times. The problem is the direction leans far too much on The Bourne series & is starting to lose its identity (no pun intended). Allegedly they will be having Q and the likes back in the next one so I'll give it a chance.
One final issue is articles say it was the shortest Bond movie, if you really want a short lived Bond experiance buy the Game (PC/360/etc.). I completed it in one evening on the difficult level... not bad but just short.

well, he doesn't come across as lovesick but as someone who is used to getting what he wants and this time, it didn't work therefore he is mad with the world. yawn. (to be fair, i didn't find the Vespa love story believable in the first place and i will never say anything good about this james bond)

I thought the previous Bond (Timothy Dalton) was totally lame, and relied completely on high tech gadgets to make up for lack of personality. Its hard to imagine Daneil Creig as ultra suave, bit its easy to imagine him as a less suave Bond. He dreses very well, but doesn't look comfortable in a suit like Connery did.

Love Daniel Craig as James Bond, he's the only IMHO who has been able to pull it off since Sean Connery. I still don't understand what the movie was about, but who cares? Did I mention I love Daniel Craig as James Bond...?

Am I the only one who thinks Daniel Craig looks a bit like Alfred E. Neuman? I found the movie very entertaining, but when they showed close-ups of Craig, Alfred just kept popping into my head. I would have preferred to see Clive Owen in the role...

I saw the movie. It just didn't seem like a James Bond film. I couldn't wait for the opening music to stop because it really sucked. I really miss the cool gadgets and the comedic lines from Q. Daniel Craig lacks the charisma, charm and coolness that some of the other Bond actors (Connery, Bronson) possessed. If someone asked him, "What's your name?" and he replied, "Bond, James Bond", I probably would reply, "Who gives a flying f..k?".
