Hi!

Anyone up for coming along to 'Once', a film starring Glen Hansard (of the Frames) and Markéta Irglová. This won a World Cinema Audience Award and a Dramatic prize at last year's Sundance. with stunning musical performances.

I'm thinking of 25 January, and will keep you updated on where. I'm happy to make reservations for all of us if you let me know.

Hope to see you then,
musi_girl

I saw it on Tuesday it was kino tag its only 4:50 into the cinema then. I got really home sick seeing the tumbledown streets of Dublin.
Jamesm
I can't say I was homesick after seeing the film. Then again, I had only left Dublin a week after its first showing at Potsdamer Platz. Can one be homesick after a week?
Punchbear
Lovely film, felt like being home before the Tiger bit.
Mariposa
I saw this movie two months ago, I loved it. I also ordered the soundtrack because I loved the music so much. I had it sent to my Munich address (from Amazon.com) and it didn't get here in time while I was home for Christmas so I only just got it a few days ago. It's awesome!

Downloading Acquiring it now... wink.gif

Once (2006) - Trailer

Mariposa
Legally of course? wink.gif In fact that is one of the things I am going to do once I'm back in Spain. *cough*
FuzzyTony
I hear they're planning to make a sequel to this movie. Guess what the title's going to be? tongue.gif
Mariposa
Ohmy gosh, I don't know, too hard for me to guess. tongue.gif
FuzzyTony
Once Is Enough (2008)
Mariposa
Pfff, I wouldn't have guessed that. But you can just watch Once twice instead of making a sequel. wink.gif
FuzzyTony
Actually, Twice is Too Many is the working title.
Punchbear
So long as Glenn Hansard gets recognition for his more than exemplary songwriting skills, I and many others will be happy. He's an unsung Cohen, a gruff Buckley, infinitely more worthy of kudos for his tunes than that magpie Rice. Although I like and respect both.
Jamesm
Personally I think the film is overrated. The German blurb goes "Wie oft im Leben findet man die wahre Liebe?" but i don't think it applies as they don't get together at all but go their separate ways plus who would pull a hoover down Grafton Street? Otherwise the songs were really good.
Eck Spatz
Here's the film's website. In Munich forum am Deutschen Museum is regrettably showing it dubbed ohmy.gif. Otherwise your only chance to see it in original is monopol in Feilitzschstrasse. But I stand corrected.

Totally agree: It was ok, the music was good but otherwise nothing exceptional. Again I tohught the dragging of the hoover all over Dubln was a bit OTT.
evilbill
Terrible film with even worse dialogue ("F**k you hoover!"). That said, the hoover was pretty good throughout.
Partridge
Anyone going to the cinema tonight?
Partridge
Take that as a 'no' then?
Partridge
I'll be outside with a red jacket at around 8:50...
