Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if someone could help me. We are relocating to Wiesbaden from Krefeld and searching for a house to rent. Right now we live in a little "settlement" it is a 30km spielstrasse and the houses are quite close together with this 30 km zone in the whole settlement. I was wondering if anybody knows of something similar in a good suburb of Wiesbaden. Also just for info, my husband will be working at Brita in Wiesbaden so the commute shouldn't be too torturous.

Thanks for your help.

IMHO a "Spielstrasse" is not 30km - its MUCH lower speed limit!
As Wikipedia (URL above) states, a Verkehrsberuhigter Bereich (which is what most people think of as Spielstrasse) means cars have to proceed at Schrittgeschwindigkeit ie walking pace. That said, I know of a number of villages where half the populace would be candidates for the Olympic Games given the speed at which they drive in a Verkehrsberuhigter Bereich!

So if you drive at 30kph in a "Spielstrasse" the consequences are...

(I got lectured on this by my 18yr old son who just passed his driving test & the instructor had been sending him around the local town with 30kph zones & Verkehrsberuhigter Bereich to try to catch him out before the test.)

I should have explained better, the house is located on a spielstrasse, however the entire settlement surrounding this spielstrasse is a 30 km/h zone.
