Hello everyone!
I'm new to posting here but not to the forum. I wanted to provide some information in case anyone out there is looking for a monthly English meet-up group. I'm an English trainer and work in the Essen/Mülheim area. I started this small group last year in the hopes of helping some of my students practice their language skills more often. So if you want to meet local German people and a few other native speakers (other trainers sometimes join as well) check out
the blog I created for the group.

If any of you would like to meet but not particularly for such a group, I'm always up for doing something. Message me and we can always plan a different type of activity.

Hello Karina,
What exactly do you do in the group? Is it structured in any way or just meeting up?

I don't structure it in any way as it is done on everyone's free time. We just meet and have a chat about our week, our work, life in general and have a drink together. It's a good way to make contacts or make a new friend. Of course, even though the group has not been together for long we have all known each other for quite a while. Most are no longer in my classes but like to come to the group to practice. It's all very casual. :-)
But like I mentioned before, if this is not your "cup a' tea" ...we can always meet up with other people or at another time/place. I saw somewhere here that there was a book club and that sounds like fun.

Hi Karina,
I'd be interested in joining you. I teach until 6 though (in Bochum), so could probably only get there around 7pm. Which is the station for Fritzpatricks?
Thanks,
Colette

If you are taking public transport and will make a connection at the Essen Hbf you can take tram #107 or 101 direction Bredeney. Get off at Martinstraße and walk straight on for about 250 meters on the Rüttenscheider Straße. You will find the Irish pub on your left hand side. I think from the main station is only 3 stops so it's quite fast.
Don't worry about the time...we are very flexible

... and, if you dare travelling to Mülheim an der Ruhr, at "Feldmann-Villa", Augustastr. 108-114, Mülheim-Styrum, on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 26) between 3pm and 6pm you can have a cup of tea or coffee, biscuits and a chat with the members of "The Social Club Muelheim a.d. Ruhr". I must warn you, however, we usually dig into non-members pockets ... €2.00!
