Non-EU business start-up in Germany

Advice on residency visas, GmbH registration, etc.

Hello all,

There have been different variations of my issue that have already been discussed here. However, I couldn't really get what I was looking for. So here's my scenario:

a. I run a software firm with 50+ employees, and half a million euros of annual revenues from Pakistan.
b. I already have quite a few German clients.

Now I want to start a full fledge German GmbH (yes it has to be GmbH). We are going to move our headquarters to Munich and be a totally German firm - for various reasons, one of them being the political conditions in Pakistan. We will instantly be hiring one or two employees for handling our existing customer base.

Investing 25000 euros upfront is not an issue (however, do I have put these 25000 in a FIXED deposit or can I use them in day to day operations?).

Okay, now the issue:

I will be moving with my wife and baby daughter (born 1st Jan 08:)).

Can I apply for residency along with my wife and baby right after GmbH registration is complete? What issues should i be expecting (as I am not investing 1 million euros)? How long should the getting-residency process take (because I have to sell my cars here, get rid of the furniture in our home and basically wrap up everything)?

How long GmbH registration usually take?

Will i apply for residency AFTER GmbH is registered OR should I apply straight away (to speed up the process as much as possible)?

Any help in this regard will be MUCH appreciated (I've contacted a lawyer and will be meeting him in Munich next week, but need some pointers before I meet him.

You The Gmbh can spend it.

Two links that might help - if you (or someone in your company) speaks german:

I dont think you even need to pay up the full 25,000. I think you can get away with 50% and a commitment to the rest (i.e. if you go bust they come and knock on your door for the rest)

Thanks but what about residency and stuff? How long does the process take? After having a GmbH, are there any complications that I need to be aware of?

By the way, I know little German.. took one course and picked up the rest during my travels...
