Hello everyone, we're planning to go to Singapore for a short stay. Any of you have some tips as travellers in Singapore? Which places are a must for getting around? Many thanks in advance. rolleyes.gif

Sentosa Island and the Botanical Gardens are my pick. Enjoy, it is a beatiful place.

Hello,

Just some suggestions: go to Chinatown, stroll around the high building near Raffles Place and then cross the river to see the museum of Asian civilisation. Go to little india for the atmosphear, a quick tour in Mustafa if you need anything. Shoping in Orchard road
Visit the zoo if you have time and if you prefer nature do not miss the botanical garden.
In any case don't forget to use the MRT (local subway) and eat in food court.

Have a good trip,

Singapore's Chinatown is a bit lame when seen with the eyes of a visitor from China...

Botanical Gardens and Zoo/Night Safari are nice. Fort Canning Park has some nice vistas of downtown. Little India is not bad (for those that haven't been to India). I sort of like Haw Par Villa, but some other people think it's tacky and a bit bizarre - depends on the attitude.

Good suggestions so far. The zoo is very nice. Just walk around the different neighborhoods, like Chinatown. The Jurong Bird Park is also definitely worth a visit.

And make sure that you eat some Durion!

I had a problem with the heat/cold changes. Meaning, we'd be walking in the heat, sweating and then walk into a place, be it a train, bus, restaurant, hotel or store and freeze from the air conditioning. Also, the rain that poured down would run you into the nearest building. I could never get comfortable with the sudden changes. Sweating one minute, shivering the next. Sentosa was okay. I liked the dolphin show.

edit: watch out for the umbrella police. Meaning, grab an umbrella sleeve to put on your umbrella when you walk into the bldgs. We were scolded and our umbrella was dry!
