G'Day!
Just wondering if there were any plans or ideas in or around Munich for Australia Day on the 26th? Weather permitting a sausage sizzle perhaps or a Great Aussie Breakfast/Brunch in the
English Gardens - a bit of a long shot in the winter I fear? Being a newbie, I'm not quite sure what options are around - any suggestions?

Ouch! Obscure reference to the Fasching parade I presume...
I normally just go to the
Outland to celebrate (get pissed), then probably head out somewhere...perfect timing this year it being on a Saturday.

So what kind of beer would one recommend for Australia Day (the only Australian beer I have ever known, regretably, was Foster in the big Oil Can)?

I honestly had never drank a Fosters until I arrived in London one time. I couldn't even tell you if it's possible to buy it in Australia.

You actually can, good stocked bottle shops have it...good knows why! No-one in their right mind would drink it.
But staying on the topic...can you actually get hold of Cooper's here? Anyone know?

There's also an Aussie Shop at Dachauer Strasse right next to Stiglmaierplatz, which also sells various Aussie Beers...I think they sell coopers but its very expensive... ;-)

they're both worth checking out! not that i dont like german beer, i think it's great but it would be nice to get some coopers every now and again...
Missed last Australia Day (worked behind the bar last year, wrong location :-). Are there any definite plans yet that I haven“t found in the chat? :-)

I wouldn't mind going out earlier, like at 14:00 or so. We used to party all day in Australia, I was imagining a day session really.

Used to be able to, but not any more, if I recall correctly.
Anyway, it was only Coopers Dark I think (Hazza?), which is hardly worth the effort.

I'll try to make it to Ned's at 2pm. I want to see what the rest of the Aussie Rules team is up to before I commit though

Coopers dark was all we could get at the end. Before that we also had Pale Ale for a while, but the supply was a bit sparodic. You can't get it at
The Arc at all anymore.

We'll be the group of Aussies there...If you're unsure, then ask someone behind the bar (or in the band) who Hazza is and they'll point me out.
Crikey! Australia Day! Ah'll be down Ned's with a bunch of she-la's that I picked up at a Didgeridoo seminar down Yabbi Creek!

Corona is a great aussie beer. I love it. (Don't drink anything else in Aus)
But if you're really desparate for an aussie drop, Cascade is great.

Best Australian beer is James Boag's, and now that a carton costs $40 in Aus, it's really not that much more expensive than the usual crap.

Happy Australia Day all! Time to put on those drinkin boots! hope to see some of you out and about.
and as much as we'd all love a coopers, boags or jimmy squire, i'm sure the australian beer gods will let us make Augustiner an honorary aussie for the day.
