Google 'musical mobiles' - that does appear to be the magical phrase
I've just seen "soft musical mobile" as well
Jesus, I've got that pop goes the weasle tune running through my head now. Thanks.

Why not simply... a toy clock?

Because it isn't a toy clock - it may be clockwork - although nowadays it doesn't have to be. But it is extremely unlikely that it has a clock face.
