Exchanging tax class with your husband or wife

I earn less than my husband earns. He is in class 3 and I am in class 5. Can we interchange our classes..?

I thought that was correct. The Tax class V is for the lower earning partner when the other partner is tax class 3.

If you swap them, then you will lose out. Double check with your accountant, but I'm pretty sure that this is correct

Way back when the wife worked, my accountant advised me that when the difference less is than € 1000 between the netto earnings is then its worth doinf both on tax class 4.If the difference is more then 3 - 5.However this was a long time ago.I would seek professional advice on this.In the end when you do your tax at the end of the year and have paid in too much the tax fiscus levels itself out anyway
