About Toastmasters International and Munich Prostmasters in detail:

Toastmaster International is a worldwide non-profit organization. It has been founded during the twentieth in the USA as an off-spring of the YMCA and grew over time up to over 9000 clubs and more than 200.000 members worldwide. Toastmasters´ mission is to help their members to inprove their skills of effective public speakung and Leadership in their business and personal life. The success of Toastmasters builds upon the mutual support of members in the local clubs which provide a positive and mutually supportive learning environment in which everys member has the opportunity to develop and practice communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

Most clubs meet regularly twice a month. All Toastmasters meetings follow the same agenda worldwide. While Toastmasters in Germany has started in close connection to US bases, e.g. in Ramstein and Spangdahlen, nowadays the Toastmasters in Munich are on the growth path. Munich has clubs which meet in German, English, French and Italian.

Our "Better Speaker Series" will continue 7pm on Wednesday 6.Feb.2008 with award winning Christopher Magyar about advanced rethorical skills.

What is it you're actually doing? You meet twice a month to do what exactly? Practice speaking? Hold impromptu speech competitions? Try and pronounce Donaudampfschifffahrtskapitänsanwärtermütenhakennage after drinking four Maß?

woof.

Don't they get drunk and pontificate the (p)light of modern capitalism?

Yes basically its about inpromptu and prepared speeches and to give evalution and feedback to others.

Prostmaster meetings are held in English and we have a big amount of expats with us. Basically the whole concept started in the US, in Munich you find some bavarian local flavor added.

As the amount of guests ending in the soup is limited, you don't risk too much if you try once. At least during meetings, youre better off staying sober. How deeply you might embrace capitalism is up to you, free speech and rethorical skills are useful on all sides of the political spectrum.

On 20th February we'll continue with our "Better Speaker series" and will provide you with advanced skills and techniques to provide excellence in public speaking and business presentations.
