Hi Guys,

Just curious as to any ideas you might have for my buddy and me to check out when he comes to visit in February(the 2nd throught the 13th) He's never visited Europe before. I live in Gelnhausen but I come into Frankfurt for work/ sports. I’m familiar with the city but I know there has to be some secret spots or cool events for us to check out while he is here. I used to love coming into Frankfurt every weekend but it’s been a while since I have camped out at the train station all night after partying waiting for the 5:30 train to go back to home.

We’re both 25 year old Americans, love sports, bars, restaurants...we’re and open to any ideas you might have

We’re also open to checking things out that are not located in the city but within an hour or two of the city.

Here are some things I already have planned just in case you think of them.

• Eintracht Frankfurt Fussball game
• Taking a bike tour around the city
• Fasching (After going to a party last year I swore I would never return because of the amount of alcohol intake but I owe my buddy one night of drinking I guess.)
• Heidelberg for a day

I’m a crappy tour guide so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Well, even if he (or you) doesn't want to "sample", I suggest a walk through the red-light district. As an American that has never been to Europe, he'll get a kick out of it. He can go back home and say that he saw it tongue.gif

You could take a drive up the Rhein through the Rheingau to Koblenz. Dozens of castle ruins..thhe Loreley...little wine towns. Better in Summer but still interesting for a furriner.

not sure if you have transport but if you do, try and make your way to Bamberg. Brought my parents there and it was lovely. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamberg

and then for the best schnitzel (i think anyway ;o)) in FFM @ Abbuzze (i have brought nearly all my visitors there and they all raved about it afterwards!) http://www.pointoo.de/poi/Frankfurt-Main/Abbuzze-116269.html

hope it helps!

Cool...thanks for the ideas so far. I thought about the Red Light as well. I'm sure he'll want to see it, but from a distance. I can't walk within 1km of that area without having the feeling that I need to take a shower.

Na, give him a full tour. Just be ready for sore thighs the next day. Those stairs (in all buildings) can be hell for a first timer. That is, unless it's changed since the last time I was there in around 1994.

You should take a tour with the "Äppelwoi Express" http://www.frankfurt-tourismus.de/cms/tour...te/en/home.html

It's a tour on a trolley. You get to see and drink alot!

I sorta have to disagree with you there... A group of us did the Äbbelwoi Express tour last week and most of the people (including me) won't recommend it. The sightseeing factor is incredibly low, it's basically just a tram where you get a free drink - at least I was expecting a little bit more.

...but that's just my 2 cents...
Jason19
Yeah, I have tried the Äbbelwoi Express tour before. I figured we would go for the bike tour instead just for the fact that I hate apple wine...but its a good idea...thanks!

Whatever floats someone's boat, right?! ;-)

Right!

Ok...not so many replies here...guess Frankfurt is as boring as I thought it was.

You can also search/browse the archives, as the question came up before.

For example, searching for "things", you can find these 3 threads

Things to do in Frankfurt on a Sunday
Things to do in and around Frankfurt
Things to see on a day trip to Frankfurt

or search for "sightsee"
