Right folks,
am going for first major drive on the right side of the road. If you see a White Baby Benz in front, stay well back! You've been warned!!! This is my first drive for more than a couple of kilometres but it has to be done sometime...Lord help us all!

You'll get used to it. Just don't roll down the window instead of changing gears.

Done that! Okay warning lifted. Am back and still intact...as much as I ever was! Phew! I find the size of the car a bit hard to get used to. It's wider than my little Micra at home and I always wonder...am I going to run into your man there on the other side or will we pass by okay...so far so good
turasteanga, there is one seriously imperitive rule of the road that you need to adhere to at all times. If I'm behind you, get out the fuckin' way!

Do you know as I was typing this I was going to write..."It's not the length I can't get used to, it's the width."
And I said better not, that would be asking for trouble... but there's always one!
So Bluedave, when was the first time you heard that ?

@Sin...luckily I didn't meet any of your type today! All very nice civilised people out there today...and me!

When I used to get a Benz as hire car when working for previous employer & hire company didnt have usual small car (esp in Düsseldorf) - I got impression that the steering wheel only had a very vague connection to the front wheels. Bit like in USA when you get impression that the BIG LOUD motor isnt connected to the wheels either...

Now I don't be thinking about technical things like steering wheels at all. Not at all!

Look! I've got a 'type'. See, I told you I was important, or something. I can die a happy man now knowing that
Here lies Sin. Father of the 'Sin Type'. Not dead, just resting... under six feet of mud.

Would you not have a bit more ambition for yourself there man. Come on now, you can do better than that! At least aim to find a cure for some tropical disease or summat before you go six feet under for the eternal rest...
Me, I just want to master this right (hand) drive stuff so I can feel as comfy here in a car as I did at home. Mind you, I wasn't always comfy there either, other drivers on the road make me nervous with their antics. In fact if there were no other drivers, I'd be grand. It's not the right or left side of the road, it's the other lousy drivers. Feck them all!

You mean really go down in history? Be immortalised?
How many people should I kill?
.
Stop it!
The best advice I can give you on driving anywhere is to follow the one and only single rule (I am being serious) of remembering that the dotted line down the centre of the road is on your (the driver's) side. The second rule (the one after the one and only single rule, of course) is not to remember said singular first rule when driving left hand drive cars on right hand drive roads and vice versa because this can often lead to a change in your dimensions.

Thanks for the advice Sin. Will have to read the second rule a few times to understand it though, tis a bit complicated!
Ah...now I get it. My brain is a bit bemuddled at the moment. We have one of those TomTom Sat nav yokes but hubby has to do Sat nav instead as I literally cannot take my eyes of the road long enough to look at TomTom. Not to mention I'm crap at reading maps...just as well he calls out the instructions too! And counts down the metres for me...nice chap TomTom
Maybe he's holding the TomTom the wrong way up. Have you asked him?

Him or TomTom? Nah, it's on some stand on the window. I can only read the map in the box of chocolates. Everything else fails me. Would get lost going upstairs if I had to read a map to do it!

Hell - and something like this is let loose on the roads? Confirms all fears we had of Merc drivers...

And dare I say Women drivers too! Just take out good insurance, you'll be grand!
