We went to the recently opened Mexican restaurant in Vaihingen last night. Being so close to the Patch Barracks means it has a mostly US clientele but the food was great. It was a little on the expensive side, 45 Euros for three beers, Tortilla chip guacamole and salsa starter and fajitas and tortillas for two (this comes with a side of refried beans and Mexican rice) But it was very spicy and the ingredients were very fresh.
Only downside was that the starter dips came in two tiny glass dishes, not enough for one person really (although I guess we could have asked for a refill) It is run by an English guy and they have UK sports on the TV at the bar too. They are also open for lunch, in case you are in the area. They have a pretty good selection of Mexican beers and strangely for a Mexican restaurant, Newcastle Brown and Guinness on tap. They have a decent spirits menu and naturally Tequila!!
It on the Hauptstr in Vaihingen (Autobahn end) and is right next to the Esso Petrol station. I'll try and add a phone number later.

I've been there a few times myself. Best Mexican food I've had in Germany. He actually knows how to use spices. Most other Mexican places I've been to have very bland tasting food (Hacienda, Enchiladas, etc.), but then again, most Germans don't seem to be big on spices anyway.
Definitely try the Margaritas there.

Another suggestion is if you're up in the Kaiserslautern area, Cantina Mexicana...BETTER than the one outside Patch. Also got a good suggestion for Joe Penas in Esslingen, havent tried that one yet.

Joe Pena's are a chain and they are moderate at their best, but only tolerable the rest of the time.

I've had the one outside Patch and the Cantina at Ktown and would agree that the Cantina is better. But the Patch one is still OK...better than none at all.

Sorry, I have to give the Patch one a HUGE thumbs down. Blah! and expensive (for what you get) IMO. Coming from Cali, I have different expectations, I guess.
Now, if we could just get a Baja Fresh...
Oh, and lets add In and Out Burger too!

A friend of mine who is from California gave up finding a good (by Californian standards) Mexican
restaurant in Germany... I haven't given up hope yet. Has anyone tried that place called Enchilada
in the Eberhardstrasse in downtown Stuttgart? I passed by it a couple of times.

Enchilada's is good for happy hour cocktails but the food is mediocre at best and the service is usually very, very poor. The only thing going for it is that they cater for big groups.

Yup, from Cali here too... Nothing in Stuttgart area come close... BUT the Cocina place tries better than the others.
The flavor of the burrito was getting close. But it was square AND you had to eat it with a knife and fork. The owner was cool. I went there twice, and both times they only had one soup and the burrito available. lol.
After 5 Tequilas I gave a crap though...

Hello,
I´m from Mexico and have been living in Stuttgart for quite a while. So far the best mexican restaurant I've found here is:
Die Echte Mexikaner
Cannstatter Straße 117 70734 Fellbach
Tel: 0711/577 30 15
http://elmeromexicano.bitto.eu/Food quality is excellent and it is truly what a Mexican would expect mexican food to be, you should all give it a try.

The foods not bad, the owner will sit and have a drink with you if you down with that. Its just not what your use to back home. Try the Burrito, it's square with some kind of red sauce on top and its not what you will expect but it taste good.
