Six Nations Rugby 2008 - Predict-a-Score

Predict-a-Score is back!

Sign up now for the well-established TT tradition of adding a little extra excitement to the 6 Nations Rugby tournament. Predict-a-Score is a proven favorite for those who follow the competition religiously, those who are new to the sport, and even those who just can't stand the sport but don't mind proving how easy it is to win.

Let's start by restating the rules, which remain unchanged since first written by pootle years ago:

There are 3 sections, Total Predictions, Final Table Predictions and Game Predictions

* Total Predictions

You must with your first competition posting predict

1. Total number of points scored in the competition
2. Total number of penalties successfully kicked through the posts in the competition
3. Total number of tries awarded (including penalty tries) in the competition

Five points are available for the person with the closest prediction in each category. In the case of a tie, each person will get the five points.

* Final Table

You must with your first competition posting predict the final table postions for each team.

You get two points for each team you get in the right position

* Game Predictions

Post your prediction for the final score of each game. You can post your prediction for the upcoming weekends games up until the beginning of the first game. You can of course post all of your predictions in week1 if you choose, but submitting game predictions each week will help you take into account past poor performances and injuries.

For a complete accurate game prediction you get five points
For a prediction that has the correct winner and score difference you get three points (includes a draw)
For a prediction thas has only the correct winner you get one point.

All predictions are to be posted on this thread.

Cost is again €10. 70% goes to the winner, 20% to 2nd & 10% to 3rd place.

The biggest logistics hassle will be collecting money. You may either pay me in person (I plan on being at Molly Malone's in Munich for the first set of games on Saturday Feb 2) or you can PM me for bank details.

I think smitty won last year without knowing how many points you got from a converted try

Well, I won the first year so... you may well have a point.

Smitty won two years ago (post-Katrina). Last year's winner was Silent Hero.

Who also...

ok stand corrected, katrina at least knows a try from a goal and what shape the ball is...and likes fit rugby players (which rules me out)
