Registration of Canadians at the Munich consulate

Do we have to register by the consulate and what benefits do we have from doing that ???

You don't have to. But if you do, they have your name and address in case of a huge disaster in the area, so another source for checking for you if things go bad. The only real useful thing is that they occasionally send you a short letter telling about upcoming Canadiana events.
