Grease playing in Munich

Being a bit of a stage show culture vulture I went to Grease at the Deutsche Theater on Thursday...

I was quite amazed at how they had slowed all the american radio stuff down... was this to give the germans time to keep u wth the american conversation/slang??

i saw grease last tuesday and thought the radio stuff was pretty normal speed, but it also was typical of that "wolfgang jack" radio talk. i thought the show was okay, but "danny" had no ass and no biceps. felt he was miscast as the macho sweetheart i remembered. it was definitely not worth my €50.

Now I remember rizzo as always being quite hot, but I guess they had one of the understudies in her place... Where as sandy - phew!

I guess after seeing the version that was doing the rounds in the UK a few times I'm used to a much faster volume. When my stuff arrives from the UK(fingers crossed for later today) I'll listen to the soundtrack again and see how fast their talking..

it seemed to me that sandy was wearing a wig and although rizzo did a good job, she seemed a bit old to me (i loved stockard channing in the movie). and the guy that played zucko, his ears stuck way out. at first i thought they were fake! if they do any more english theatre stuff, we should all try to go together. i went alone 'cause my bf isn't into musicals. *sigh*

well rocky horror is on its way (and now I'm not gonna go in fancy dress)
