Hi,

Hopefully, some of you already went through the same process I will be going through within the next several months. My primary questions for those of you who can answer this is: How long does it take for a U.S. Fiancee Visa to process if we do all the paperwork correctly? My fiancee is from Germany and I am an American citizen. We intend to marry sometime in August of this year. However, I went through the U.S. Department of State page only to find some discouraging information as follows:

"The length of time varies from case to case according to its circumstances. The time it takes each USCIS office and each consular office to process the case varies. Some cases are delayed because the applicant does not follow instructions carefully or supplies incomplete information. (It is important to give correct addresses and telephone numbers.) In addition, the embassy or consulate may need to get security clearances for the applicant. Security clearances take time."

I would really love to get some more definite answers than the ambiguous one given above. I just want to know how the average scenario plays out for most people who get it done correctly in a timely fashion.

Thank you in advance. smile.gif

We went through this in 1994 so I don't know if the process is still the same. It took about 3 months to get the Finacee Visa. We were in Germany at the time, but wanted to get married in the US where we lived for a while before eventually returning to Germany. I remember thinking at the time that it was quite a long time to wait and that some of the things they requested, like the lung x-ray of my husband to check for TB and a physical, were quite silly. Do they still require those or are they a thing of the past?
In hindsight though, I guess 3 months really isn't too bad, but we were young and impatient then wink.gif
