Hey, I'm off to Taipei in 4 hours and the new LP comes out in November so they've removed all old copies from the shelves.

Can anyone recommend another book? Just enough to make the most out of a week in Taipei / Taiwan...

Thanks!

Ever considered just staying in Munich for a weekend for a change? wink.gif

I have no idea on books either but if you're passing though the Hbf on the way then try the bookshop on the lower level at the bottom of the escalators leading from the main concourse to the S-Bahn. They have an extensive selection of travel guides. I've even found old lp books there.

sounds like a plan, thanks!

And Jeeves, you're not the only one trying to tell me to stay here...earthquake in Taiwan this morning

...can't wait for the phone call from my mum... rolleyes.gif

anyone wanna swap? Honest guv, 15 hours on a plane and 24 hours' time travel, to an earthquake zone, is really good fun! blink.gif
Beg Tets
Spend most of my time in Hsin Chu when I'm in Taiwan but did get to go to Taipei once. The people's square right in the middle of town was pretty spectacular and full of schoolkids playing musical instruments and doing a kind of ad-hoc opera. There's also this supposedly famus old temple a short walk away full of ancient old taiwanese guys bickering over Mahjong. Try not to choke on the incense. Oh, and the volcano spewing forth sulphurous gas (good view of Taipei from the top) and the hot springs where you can buy a tea egg from the old boy with the long beard and cook it yourself in the hot spring water.

No idea where any of these places are exactly 'cos I got taken round by a colleague from the local office but just a few ideas. Who needs LP when you've got Beg Tets?
canuck
You've got some real bad luck JB. First the hurricane in Cuba this year, and now a strong earthquake and a typhoon nearing Taiwan...I'll never let you plan my trip!! laugh.gif
