Hi guys,

well, I went to visit Australia recently and in Perth, I found a great place where you can learn kiteboarding in no time.
I had such a great time that I would like to share this with all of you.
This is not an advert, the kiteboarding school didn't ask me to put anything here! I just really enjoyed it and in case you were wondering where would be the best place to learn it in Oz, this would be the place to go.
Darren, the owner, is super friendly and the teachers are all well-humored and educated. They use the latest equipment and will even give you helmets with microphones in them, so you can still hear their instructions when you are out in the water! And afterwards you can chill out with the team and talk over a cold Tooheys and lounge music (Darrens house mix is fantastic wink.gif) .
I had a blast there, so if you are ever around Perth and would like to learn how to kiteboard, go and visit the Australian Kiteboarding School.

Have fun!
Editor Bob
Thanks for the tip, CaBe.

And if anyone's wondering what kiteboarding is all about, see this video my brother and I made whilst near Perth last year: Seabreeze

And another one: Kiting in Western Oz

Just watch out for the sharks. On average two people are eaten every year off the coast of Western Australia.

See also details for kitesurfing near Munich (no sharks in Bavaria).

Bollocks. According to the Taronga Zoo, which compiles the Australian Shark Attack File, the statistics are nowhere near that.

Over the last 200 years, there have been 86 attacks in the Western Australian coastal region, 13 of which were fatal.

I stood and watched these people for ages last month. Looks like excellent fun but I'm not a strong enough swimmer to do it myself.

If for some reason you're afraid of sharks then you can kitesurf on the river too.

Chef, please don't let facts come in the way of my sensationalism. Thanks.

My apologies.

Did I say 86 attacks? My error, I meant 8600 attacks.
Go surfing out there, and you've got a 10% chance of coming back.
And that other 90%, they are the lucky ones, oh yes.

If you're in NZ, Lyall Bay in Wellington is a great place to learn kiteboarding - the water may be cold but seeing as it is Wellington, wind is guaranteed. At least 2 places on the bay offer lessons and equipment hire (or you can buy your wetsuit from the Warehouse for 50€) or ask at the Surf Club for info.

Yeh, then you only have to be afraid of the Crocs..

This seems like a perfect canidate for a front page article scheme, with a cool pic of CaBe kitesurfing added of course smile.gif ...
