Hi,

I got a blue card from Deutsche Post that they tried to deliver a package while I wasn't at home. I've had one of these before but then the box was checked to pick it up the "nachsten werktag" Now the "heute jedoch nicht!" box is checked and I can't figure out what it means.

It translates as "today however not!" So does that mean I can pick it up tomorrow at the post office address stamped on the card, but if that's the case why not just check "next workday" box? Or does it mean that they will try to deliver it again tomorrow? But then why does it also say "Bitte holen sie die sendung, etc." and have the post office address stamped?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Pick it up today.

"Heute jedoch nicht!" translates to "but not today". Mail guy has to have a chance to take the parcel back to the post office before you can go pick it up...

I just got one of these blue cards fo the first time today (have had tons of the normal little cards) and the only thing I am expecting is an item from play.com (which is free delivery) but mine also has 13.87€ on the Nachentgelt.

So, if I go to the post office tomorrow to get this and it something that I dont want (or even perhaps the thing from play.com that should not have any extra delivery fee) - can I just not accept it??

The only thing that is weird is that it has "Sendung mit Briefzusatzleistung" marked on it - Which if I am not mistaken, it is an envelope, not a package??? Would have no idea what that would be!

"Sendung mit Briefzusatzleistung" just means "sent with Additional Service(s)". Usually the additional service is an "Einschreiben" i.e. registered post. Check if this is one has it.

EDIT: And I think you can refuse to take it at the post office, but will leave this one for others to confirm ( there is some stuff about it remaining in the post office for some time even after you refuse...ok I shut up)

What has me worrying is that it is addressed to my full name - The only mail I ever get with my middle name on it is official stuff ph34r.gif

But it has the 13.87 listed, which means that it might be a package. I am confused and just dont want to have to pay and take what ever it is if I go there.

EDIT- OK, so I just looked up my play.com account and they do have my full name on it. I ordered something 3 weeks ago that didnt come (normally comes in less than a week) and they said they would send it again (which was just today). So, I am thinking it is probably just the orginal one and got lost/delayed somehow and how they want the extra postage paid.

I will go have a look and if it is, I will have it sent back as they sent out a new order today to me anyway.

I just want to be 100% sure that I can refuse it if I show up and give them the blue card. It is also weird as it is a different post office than my usual one.

Could it be for import taxes? How much is your Play.com order worth? Or would that not be the post office collecting the taxes.
Cookieman
Since you are up checking the play.com account, check your address in there too. The additional charges may be for the slightly "SCENIC ROUTE" the package had to take.

if you are required to pay for anything you can ask the post office ppl where it came from and deny it if you dont want it. they simply send it back to the sender. problem solved. if you want to know whats inside then you'll have to pay.

I order from play.com all the time, it comes from the UK so it is nothing to do with import tax nor the address.

I would know immediately what is inside when I see who it is from. I had no intention of opening it and then refusing it (if that is what you meant, if not, sorry smile.gif ) I just want to be 100% that once I see where it is from, if I dont want to accept it, that I can send it back.

when I´ve had larger packages from Play.com sent over they´ve been intercepted by the Zollamt and I´ve been summoned to collect the package there (can´t remember what colour the card was though) and fill in forms re. the contents.
could it be something similar??
aren´t Play.com packages sent from Jersey or something?
