German payments to a non-German account

How to collect invoices after leaving Germany

Hey guys, I know this has probably been asked before, but I didn't have any luck with the search...although there are a TON of banking topics (including one about a horse).

I'm getting ready to move back to the US and want to close my DB account. But, I have several invoices that are 30+ days out from payment. Can these be paid into a UK or US account?

It would be great if I could somehow get them paid directly into my US account, but I'm guessing that is a no go.

But, does the UK use the same payment system? And if not which countries do use it. I just really don't want to have an open german account with all the fees and BS that accompany it.

Any advice is appreciated

I think you can ask the payee to send the money directly to your US account-just get the swift code for your bank. I just made a payment from a US account into a German account so I don't see why they couldn't go the other way. Your US bank should have info on their web site about the information they need for a wire transfer as well as the fees associated with an international transfer.

unfortunately it's payroll...so they require the bzt/acct number combo

You really do not have much alternative other
than to keep your DB account open until all your invoices are
paid - then shut your account down.
Any credit remaining will be happily transferred by the DB anywhere -
but will cost you serious charges.
If you have a friend with a US bank account AND a Euro bank account
anywhere in Euroland - when you shut your account down get the
balance transferred to your friends account in Euros (it's free!!)
and ask your friend to credit your US account in Dollars...
