Mexican night @ Tijuana, Friday 15.Feb.2008

I have recently been to Sausalito´s right near Marienplatz and they have Happy Hour from 5pm. Drinks and food are 50% price, and I really recommend Sex on the beach

Although I'm not going, because I can't, not because I don't want to, I think it is a big deal about the smoking. We've waited a long time for Germany to catch up with the rest of the civilised world and giving in to these half arsed smoking club nonsenses is a betrayal of the effort that has gone into getting a decent smoke free environment. The militant smokers are always banging on about how we non smokers don't have to go into smoking bars if we don't like it, so here's an opportunity to vote with our feet. Maybe you don't care, but I do!

Personally, I will not be going to any place that labels itself a "smoking club".

You wouldn't be able to even if you wanted. Only members and their guests are allowed into smoking clubs. Non-smokers have to be members too.

The ability to sign up on a night without any fee (if I understand what they are doing right) makes the whole ban almost worthless. I do sometimes wonder if the plan is to actually make the ban fail so they can say they tried and failed?

Second hand news from where I live but I'm told the places that are now smoking clubs are more smokey than they were before as more people go just to smoke. I've actually found a really nice smoke free bar in Kolbermoor so all my nights out will be in there now.

@Eleanor, As a non smoker , and militant one at that apparantly, I really do not want to be the member of smoking club. It would really be a double standard. It would be like paying church tax just to get some of the benefits that come with being the member of a church when I hate almost all they stand for.

I am still in. The idea of a "smoking club" doesn't appeal to me. So waiting for another place.

We could always split the group, those who don't mind can still go to Joe Penas and those who do can go somewhere else. This will also mean that we won't have to have a limit of 20 on the sign up sheet.

I'm up for the smoking club. Especially now, as it means the boring militant anti-smoker oppressive types won't be there. Leave the mothers at home and party!

I will go ahead and set it to Tijuana on Leopoldstr. I will not orgainze a smokers dinner -sorry. There will be only the 1 dinner and we will see how it goes. I will also change the time to 7pm so that we can enjoy an hour of Happy Hour.

I will call Tijuana today and make a reservation for 30. If you have a YES by your name and are NOT coming - please let me know via PM asap so I can open it up to more people. We are in as well. We had a good time with a small group on Sunday for the "Chill Out" at Enchilada's, but always in the mood for Mexican - especially if it comes with tequila

it's shaping up to be a very sporty weekend for me - tomorrow the slopes, today ice-skating to work, and in the evening swimming pool . I'll be heading for an early start, so I can have my dip and go home early (well that's the plan anyway).
