Egyptian Mummies - Immortality in the Land of the Pharaohs

QUOTE
The large state exhibition "Egyptian Mummies - Immortality in the Land of the Pharaohs" at Landesmuseum Württemberg, Stuttgart, (06 October 2007 to 24 March 2008) under the patronage of the First Lady of Egypt, Suzanne Thabet Mubarak, and of the Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg, Günther H. Oettingen, gets to the bottom of the origins of the Egypt belief of the dead and asks for its cultural-historical background. Numerous mummies and animal mummies as well as about 300 high-calibre loan items from international museums let the visitors dive into the concepts of thereafter and belief of the advanced civilization at the Nile.

The Landesmuseum is running a very impressive show on the philosophy and art of mummification in Ancient Egypt. I have been twice. Ask for the free audio guide in English!

I took my daughter when it first opened, she was fascinated by the Xrays of the Mummies. I'd recommend it too

It has a special section for kids. Both mine (5 and 7) loved it too.

Does it have anything over the mummy exhibition that the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen Mannheim is still running? Title there is "Mummies - the Dream of Eternal Live" iirc, and doesn't focus on mummification in Egypt, unlike the one in Stuttgart. Wouldn't recommend it for children though.

Has anyone visited both?

The Mannheim show runs through the 24th of March (same as Stuttgart`s):

Mannheim, Germany - An exhibition of 70 mummies from round the globe is to open Sunday at a German museum, complete with three- dimensional X-ray pictures to reveal probable causes of death. The bodies, some naturally mummified and other embalmed, were given computer tomography (CT) scans by university hospital doctors to reveal symptoms of tuberculosis, arthritic joints and tumours.
The Reiss-Engelhorn Museum in the south-western city of Mannheim says the show, till March 24, is the biggest ever devoted to ancient preserved bodies and follows the chilling discovery that the museum had 19 mummies in its own store.

Haven't been there, so can not comment on it.
