We recently discovered a new pub (new for us) on Mittelweg... Kemp's English Pub- Great food and we really enjoyed it. Run by Tina and her husband (forget his name-sorry!!) Just curious if anyone else out there has been and what they think. Would be a great place for a group meet!

I was there with a group of Canadians once a couple of years ago and we and enjoyed the place immensely. The staff were fun and put up with our rowdiness OK.

Yes, its pretty interesting if you like The Beatles. The owner, Gibson Kemp replaced Ringo Starr when he left Rory Storm and the Hurricanes to join The Beatles. Also Astrid Kerscherr, the photographer who is portrayed in the film Backbeat is a regular customer. I think some of her early photos of the band are on the walls in there.

They also carry a nice selection of English bottled beers.

Cool. If I recall correctly, her photos were on display prominently at the Hamburg history museum's very well-done Hamburg Sound special exhibition last year.

I think Kemp's is the place I was looking for when I found The Naked Turtle. Where is Kemps - I walked for 20 min (in the rain) looking for the english pub that friends said was "a short walk from Hallerstrab station"...

You must have gone the wrong way, it's towards Dammtor.
There's actually a bus stop right in front of the pub.

It's at Mittelweg 27, you can either walk from Dammtor station or take the 109 bus and get off at Böttgerstraße (2 stops from Dammtor I think).
